Specialties
ESL is Europe’s leading language travel organisation.
We offer a wide variety of tailor made, language based, educational programmes in partnership with carefully-selected language schools from over forty countries, in over two hundred destinations.
We started in 1997 as a French language school in Switzerland (Ecole Suisse des Langues) and since then we have worked closely with our partner schools to offer an industry-leading quality of service and range of products at the best price; you pay the same with us as you would booking direct with a school, but with the added advantage of being able to discuss your course beforehand with our well-informed staff who are passionate about languages and travel, and have all experienced learning a language overseas. They have real, practical expertise that can help you at every step of the way.
Experience a new culture, improve your language skills, make friends and broaden your horizons. We are here before, during and after your stay.
History
Established in 1997.
ESL is short for «École Suisse de Langues» and reflects our roots as a language school. We began by offering summer camps for juniors in two Alpine resorts in the French speaking part of Switzerland, and soon after opening a language travel office, offering language holidays and a French language school for adults on the shores of Lake Geneva (where our head office is still situated today). Over the years we have added to our portfolio and now have 37 agency offices in 11 countries, 10 junior summer camps, and 4 adult language schools. Our Language Travel agency office in London is one of our latest additions.
We don’t just specialise in «English as a Second Language», though it is one of our products, but also in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese, Turkish, Greek, Dutch, Thai and much more.
In 2010 and 2011 ESL was the winner of «Star Agency in Western Europe» at the Language Travel Magazine Awards.
Meet the Manager
Alex W.
Manager
Alex has nearly fifteen years experience of working within the educational travel business, as a teacher, product manager and sales manager. He has spent time learning French in the Basque country, and Spanish in Spain, Central America and South America, all combined with plenty of surfing and wine (though not at the same time).
Passionate about languages and travel, Alex hopes to break Portugal — it’s language, waves and fortified wine, in the near future!
