Not as small as a corner store, yet not as big enough to be called a supermarket, this is my local Turkish food shop. It’s hard to love such a clearly un-loved place. The tiles on the floor seem perenially in need of a good mopping and the layout could definitely be improved. Having said all that, this is the place I come daily for those basic items I could probably not live without, and there is an impressive range of foods for a medium-sized shop. Haloumi, yoghurt, feta, beer, sesame seeds, soft Turkish flatbreads and chocolate are some of the things I regularly grab here. Except for the vine tomatoes, I tend to avoid the tired-looking fruit and vegetables. A welcome recent addition is the bakery section whose organic white bloomer loaf and croissants are both delicious if you get them hot and fresh out of the oven!
