Established in 2013.

Part of the Antic collective, Farrs school of Dancing takes its name from a dance school which occupied the building in the 1930’s.

Now a lavish and nostalgic public house providing the good people of Dalston with a great selection of locally sourced beverages.

Another lovely Antic pub (with an interesting name) and as always with Antic there are at least 1 or 2 good but also unpredictable beers. However I have been to this pub a few times now and it’s a more familiar friend, the Five Points Pale, that was the stand out beverage. They are casque mark certified, so their quality is official.
Have not dined, only snacked here but can recommend the light bites
The staff are as friendly as the the stairs up to the toilets are steep! Make sure you take a look out of the window if you must ascend.

Went for food the other night — was a disappointment considering the amount of hype there had been about the kitchen opening. We had a mix of starters and ultimately it was passable pub food. Everything was predominantly from the fryer, reasonably priced, but fairly non-​descript. Ultimately it was fine, but there are more interesting places near by.

Great location for me as it’s near the overground.
The dancing mostly happens in the front (I say mostly because the occasional couple uses the space on either side of the bar to get more dancing room) and there are plenty of places to sit around the back of the bar if you need a break from dancing.
Lovely place to banish the Sunday blues us 9−5ers tend to get.

Visited here a couple of times now and have yet to be disappointed. Good selection of well priced drinks, bubbly informed staff, great atmosphere and the DJ breaks out the vinyl on the weekends. Now also serving food — which looks incredible. Add it to your list — its a gem amongst the east London selection

Great bar in a really convenient location right across the road from Dalston Junction. Staff are really friendly and are happy to chat when it’s not too busy.
Beers are served in the old school tankards and the vinyl comes out at the weekend with some great genres getting a look in. It’s worth getting there early and bagging yourself a good spot. The people watching in here is first class

I’m surprised I was allowed in, with me not having a beard or legging type jeans, but was pretty glad to get in.
Call me old fashioned but i’m not one for the ‘run down décor look’, but this is Dalston so I suppose it’s par for the course. Good selection of drinks, friendly staff and a happy crowd the night I I was in.
Dj was playing a bit of 80s soul which was up my alley, just hope it wasn’t being played ironically or maybe I am showing my age !! Shuts at 12 though, bit disappointed as I was just starting to get into it !!

Came here last night just before heading out to the Dalston Street Feast.
What was supposed to be one drink became an extended session of knocking back Duvels, which after tequilas at casita and rye whiskey at NOLA was pretty intense.
This is a great place to meet up with friends for a drink. Wooden floor boards throughout, friendly staff, great music, not too loud and a great selection of beers.
Not that many pubs on Dalston Lane, so nice to see one open up in such a cool space. And so very Dalston.

Room to move, craft beers even I haven’t seen before, a blues/​soul/​rock n’ roll vinyl DJ, 360 degree wood planking, and a friendly bouncer: I have found my favorite place to warm into a Dalston Friday night.
I got to Dalston before my comrades, and wanted to check this out after seeing it on Barchick and reading Tristan’s 4-​star review. I walked out of the rain and into a roomy and characterful arena of nice-​looking people who actually looked like nice people as well. Some ladies even saw that I was standing and offered me a seat at their table. The seat happened to be a folding theatre seat – could be contrived anywhere else, but at Farr’s, it’s just part of the genuine fun.
Rye Pale Ale from Redwall and London Fields breweries also pretty tasty.
Oh Farr’s, it is with a heavy heart that I part ways to meet my friends at Ridley’s. Let it not be too long before we are reunited.

No, it’s not actually a school of dancing. It used to be, but now it’s a pub. Well, for a long time it used to be just a derelict building but now it’s been done up (sort of, as done up as you can when you just seem to give the place a clean, a few strips of wall paper and brush down the exposed brick walls).
Tables and chairs are a mixture of reclaimed items — some look like floorboards and bannisters.
There’s no food at the moment but it’s coming. As are the dance lessons (I think they’re planning on staying true to their name). This bit of Dalston has been lacking a decent pub and I hope Farr’s can fill that void (we have plenty of bars around here but pubs… not so much).
I’ll update once I’ve eaten but first impressions were good and on opening night they even had some girls singing vintage tunes — nice.
