Fossil

Der Fossil Store nahe dem Covent Garden ist — woe sollte es anders sein — ein Mega-​Touri-​Laden. Das Personal versucht trotz des zuweilen immensen Andrangs, freundlich und hilfsbereit zu bleiben. Warscheinlich kann man es den Angestellten nicht übel nehmen, wenn das in Anbetracht der Rahmensituation manchmal nicht gelingt. Meiner Meinung nach sollte es aber gelingen. Vielleicht hatte ich aber auch nur einen schlechten Tag erwischt.

Although there are now a few Fossil stores, the one in Covent Garden is the first I remember seeing. I was surprised to find out the Fossil sell bags as well as watches, and rather nice ones at that. I used to love the watches with moving pictures in the background, mainly because they seemed high-​tech and interesting, but I have kind of grown out of them now, seemingly so has the brand. Watch out for the sales, when there is loads of good stuff to be found at bargain prices, it is a wonder to me that anyone bothers to buy anything at full price.

This little shop attracted my attention because of its name (How many shops called or using the word fossil in have you ever seen?) and once inside, my eyebrows disappeared into my hairline and didn’t come down again until I had left 15 minutes later. and the shop is small enough to take in in about 3 minutes.
The riot of colour, a mural style painting with lots of American images on, dominates the wall above the stairs to the basement level, with the rest of the walls on the ground floor given over to the exhibition of watches and sunglasses — all chic and far too expensive for the likes of me. The middle of the floor has displays for leather goods — purses, wallets, bags and the like. The basement floor has two main features — it sells the same stuff as the ground floor just in different proportions. lots of American paraphenalia buried under a clear glass bottom step (See pictures) and a large petrol metre (fake? who knows). A great little place with good music playing in the background and light colours on the walls, putting you at ease. An excellent little shop.
