The French Market is held on weekends on Upper Street at N1(the mall in Islington). The stalls fill the area from one end of the little mall to the other and offer a variety of goods. Since it is a French Market there is a stall offering wonderful cheeses and a stall selling sliced meats. If you continue to wonder around you’ll find a stall selling soaps, leather goods, bread and lots of other random items. The Market is not very large but you might find a few items to take away with you. The prices are good and I think the best stall is by far the one selling cheese. The cheese stall has a wide variety and not all the cheese is French, I did manage to purchase a few slices for a cheese tray without breaking the bank, which is always a bonus.

This small market offers French speciality goods in the Islington Mall Complex. French cheese, buscuits, sausages and baked goods are on offer. The prices tend to be reasonable but be mindful of the old 100 grams becoming 150 grams trick. I bought some Pecorino here(not French but Italian cheese) and I asked for 100 grams. The man deliberately cut off a bigger piece of cheese and then told me it was 150 grams and asked if that was ok. I agreed knowing that it would be difficult to return a half block of cheese for someone else back to his glass case but I shouldn’t have! 100 grams is 100 grams. Period. Full Stop! The French market travels around and is always similar. You can find cold salad-type items, cheese, bread and occassionally handbags. This market is no great shakes but if you happen to be in Islington and it happens to be on, have a look, get some cheese and ask for 100 grams!
