A Carribean restaurant aimed at the higher end of the market: white, starched table linen, wine glasses and table settings, you get the idea. The food is Jamaican/Carribean/West Indian homecooking done in a refined manner and with higher prices to match. We had the jerk chicken and curried goat, both well very competently executed and the jerk chicken, which came on a hot sizzler, tasted pleasantly of cloves. The curried goat was flavoursome and not greasy. Portions were small which was a disappointment and I was dismayed that a £12.95 jerk chicken did not come with sides included but had to be ordered additionally at £3 a small plate of some 10 or less slices of fried plantain. So value-wise it was a bit disappointing. Service was keen and friendly. Our rum punches were a bit pricey at £6.95 a go and they were just standard glasses i.e. not tall. However, there was plenty of rum in it which made up for it somewhat. I must say I really appreciated the chance to eat Carribean food in a restaurant and who knows, if the same menu genre turns up in a gastropub with main dishes at below £10 each, it could be a real winner!
