Ordered duck to go and it was just not good. I didn’t even really want to eat it. This place is just not that good.

Prices have increased by about 50% since I wrote my last review, but the food seems better than ever(although still not amazing, just very good). It’s a shame about the price increase, but it’s still the best Chinese take-away in the area, and I still enjoy eating there. Aside from the price, the worst thing is the unfriendly staff. Brace yourself for complete and utter disinterest in your experience, but don’t let that ruin the food for you.

dont know why some people say this place is cheap as I dont see it as cheap… the tom yum soup was £4.50… considering a nice place Tom Yum is the same place… this place is a hole in the wall and looks like a hole in the wall but does not have the hole in the wall prices… I had a coke, tom yum, dim sum, and stir fried beef and it came to around £20… not so cheap if you ask me. I pondered for many months if I should venture to this place, always hesitating. Today I made the plunge… food was not the worse I ever had but not worth the price I paid for what I received. It is chinese people running wanna be Vietnamese restaurant with random Thai dishes thrown into the mix.

Don’t be fooled by the name, beneath the snappy name is a regular Chinese restaurant and takeaway. If ever you are in the Clapham Junction area it is worth checking out as the prices are reasonable and the food is good.

I can’t see why people spend here like half a night, they have their starters, mains, sweets and lots of own wine. The food is not too tasty, it is greasy, service is very average., but I guess their strength is in the location. They’re just opposite CJ station and take full advantage of it. You can skip it.

£35 fed 8 people. Need I go on? Ok, ok, I’m well aware that said 8 people could also choose eat grass in the park for free if they so choose, so the fact that this food was bog standard and not overwhelmingly rave-worthy should also be mentioned, but seriously. 35 quid. 8 hungry people. That certainly merits some stars in my book. We opted for take-away and selected a beef, chicken, veggie and seafood option, threw in some pork puffs for good measure and enough rice to last until the second coming. I seem to remember prawn crackers in the carnage as well? Nevertheless, as we descended upon the food, the only complaints heard revolved around a certain someone picking and hoarding veggies… Looking back, the menu was a bit off… some classic selections were missing and some unusual suspects slipped in, but hey, for £4 a head this was definitely an a-ok experience in my book.

Good Morning Vietnam !!! No no … this isn’t Robin Williams … this is Tirthankar D speaking. Let me tell you guys a story. Once upon a time there were three drunk party animals … searching for a place to satiate their hunger after some serious drinking at a Unilocal event nearby. They rejected the subway … they rejected the kebab shop … and continued looking until they zeroed in on this restaurant just across the road from Clapham Junction(the busiest station in europe if i may add). But there was something odd. The menu was rather unfamiliar. Where did all the exotic vietnamese dishes that they had seen in the restaurants at shoreditch go? There was nothing in the menu that could probably qualify as vietnamese. The food was ok. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t bad either. The quantity was good. In fact it was possibly ideal for the three who just wanted to stuff themselves with food at that point and didn’t care too much about anything else. Had they been in a situation(or mood) to be more discerning, they wouldn’t appreciate this place too much. The options that were available were the standard chinese fare, but cheap compared to most places in zone 1. On the whole this place would be agreeable to them only if they needed to eat something soon. Enough said.

False advertising. This place would be more appropriately named ‘Good Morning China’, but then I suppose it wouldn’t have the spurious approval of Robin Williams going for it. As a Vietnamese restaurant, Good Morning Vietnam falls well short. And as a Chinese restaurant, it’s only so-so. I mean, I can’t say it was bad or anything. But since there’s an irresistibly fantastic Chinese restaurant closer to me just down the road in Wandsworth(see here: ), I think I’m going to have to give Good Morning Vietnam a big ol’ pass. ‘Tis a shame, because — for a moment there — I was really excited about there being a Vietnamese restaurant in SW London, that is, until I realised it was actually a Chinese restaurant having an identity crisis.

If you’re around Clapham Junction and need something quick and tasty, hassle free, then Good Morning Vietnam is where it’s at. I like the fact you can bring in your own booze and I’ve had quite a few evenings out on the cheap that started at this little express restaurant. You can find all the normal Chinese /Vietnamese goodies on the menu. I must say I haven’t found prawn toast as good as Good Morning Vietnam’s anywhere else in London. This is a very affordable place to come with friends or on the way back for a long night out. It’s really a no frills restaurant and doesn’t boast to be anything it’s not, but it does what it does best — affordable food that’s quick and easy.

Good Morning Vietnam is located opposite Clapham junction station. Despite the name of the place the food is described as ‘Chinese and Vietnamese’, although I’m not sure where the Vietnamese comes in as there was nothing recognisable from what I’d eaten in Vietnam whilst travelling there. I ordered beef with lemongrass expecting, as you would to have a strong flavouring of lemon grass — it didn’t have any! This place would be a good bet if you wanted some cheap filling food, and it’s bring your own wine but its definitely not a place to linger!
