I just adore this place. The atmosphere is great– a weird combination of centuries old books on modern shelves and traditional art pieces mixed with modern ones. It is a great place to spend a lazy afternoon with a good book, while making yourself comfortable in one of their amazing couches on the upper floor. Additionally all the staff are very friendly and always ready to help you out with finding a nice book.

What I like about the Hendon library is the modern appearance. As you walk in you are treated to paintings on the wall and a spacious feel rather like a gallery. Upstairs is where you book in and out your books, videos, music, DVDs. Yes this library has a lot of variety which goes far beyond the traditional library offering. They have a pretty good business section which is in a room by itself. There are several tables and chairs scattered throughout the library so you can take a seat and preview your choice before making a decision to take them with you. Or you can simply go to the library and read. Talking about going and reading, there is a nice café which sells very reasonable drinks and cake selection. It is very light and spacious and I always take some books there to look over whilst enjoying a drink. Hendon library has a huge and varied choice. One of the downsides however is that parking your car is a bit tricky. You can drive around the back to the dedicated car park but it is hard to find a space.

I don’t read fiction. I really have no place in my bookshelf for pretty words that form fabricated stories. I like business books, sociology and non-fiction. I’ve never read Shakesphere, nor do I care to. Hendon Library has 3 floors of books and a psychology section. They have loads of business books as well. Upstairs on the 3rd floor are some good music books, including a small sheet music section. I think this library is top notch.
