I came here on a random weekday and the place was pretty empty. I have no idea why I decided to have such a heavy lunch, but I ordered the pork schnitzel with a side of salad and fries. Pork Schnitzel: I originally wanted the chicken schnitzel, but they were out that day. I opted for the pork schnitzel instead. It literally tasted like crispy pankoed bacon. Except the cut wasn’t pork belly. It just had the smoky flavor of bacon. Delicious. Dill Aioli/dressing: I usually don’t like dill, but this was great! Wasn’t too sure if it was for the schnitzel or the salad. Either way, I used it for both. Salad: This salad… I don’t even know why, but it was so good??? I think it was the sweet granny smith apples. Maybe the dill aioli? Fries: Pretty standard. Would recommend to try at least once!

I’ve been here many many times as I work 1 minute from it. I’ve tried everything from the menu and quality is always great. Stopped going coz it can get a bit expensive.

Had a really yummy lunch here — I went for the bratwurst in a bun with cheesey pommes, while my husband has curry wurst and chips, piled high with curry sauce, onions and jalapeños. Both choices proved delicious and were delivered speedily to our table — always a bonus when you’re grabbing lunch of a workday. I’ve been told(and can well believe) that it gets very busy later in the week, but I wouldn’t mind having to queue for a wurst as delicious as this.

Amazing food, fabulous service! The staff were really great, nothing was too much for them! Which really adds to the experience! The currywurst was even better than those I ate in Berlin, and the pomme frites were awesome! One to try for sure!

Consistent. You get exactly what is advertised, that shouldn’t be impressive but it often is! Highly recommended if you’re in the mood for what they offer.

What find. I just loved this place. Reminds me of a taste of Berlin when I visited there and discovered the currywurst. Great friendly service here and nice choice of fast food. Licensed too so can also grab some good German beers. I went for a hot large bockwurst. My friend had the chilliwurst and was well hot at the end. Good job he don’t go hotter with the sauce. Want to come back and try a hotter sauce. Just wish we had one of these places in brum Not the cheapest for fast food. £32 for two with beers. But worth it for if you are currywurst fan

German fast food at its best. Sausages are gluten free, non GM, no MSG. Fries are best fries I had in fast food places. Its a great place to grab a quick bite. Staff if friendly and efficient. Value for money. I often pop in and stuff my face with yummy food there.

Oooh why didn’t I try this place sooner I ask myself! I had been on the hunt for good chicken schnitzel in London for a really long time… finally! SOOOOOOOGOOOOOD!!! I had the schnitzel, chips and salad and my friend opted for the schnitzel sandwich(which was equally as good and in a warm brioche bun). It was cooked to perfection and accompanied with a tasty salad. The chips were also packed with flavour(not sure what flavours in particular were on the chips, but whatever it was, it was amazing). They also have a few German beers on tap which complimented the food beautifully. Now to work out when is an acceptable amount of time to return and have exactly the same thing… hmm.

When you’re craving wurst, Herman Ze German hits the spot! For Americans like me who did not know, currywurst is sausage topped with a ketchup tomato-based sauce with curry spices — quite delicious and reminiscent of chili. For a little over £5, I got a bratwurst sausage, topped with currywurst and crunchy fried onions in a roll. For about £1 more, you can add a generous side of seasoned pommes frites. Everything was tasty, friendly service, and they have a nice selection of German sodas. Great lunch spot!

What is it about these restaurants that dont follow basic hygiene rules. Why is it so difficult. Tonight I asked one of the wait staff who was cleaning the floor, to go and wash her hands as she started to prepare my food. I told her that it was poor practice and unacceptable. The same member of staff who is handling the money, does the food prep. They never use gloves, and handle food with unwashed hands. I am sick and tired of this BS that goes on in restaurants. The management dont care. All they are interested in is making money. Why wait until someone gets violently ill, or dies from food poisoning and then maybe something will get done about it. SICKANDTIREDOFBADHYGIENEPRACTICESINLNDN. I HAVEGOTFOODPOISONINGMORETIMESTHAT I CARETOREMEMBER. WENEEDTOSTARTSUINGTHESEPLACESWHENWEGETILL. Then maybe they will wake up! I will never eat there again. And will advise others not to as well.

I finally gave in … as a reluctant German who spent most of her adult life avoiding meat and who hates terrible branding, I did a good job of avoiding Herman(don’t make me say the rest) despite everyone raving about it. Until now … Sausages are just the perfect lunchtime alternative if you are fed up with sandwiches but don’t fancy investing time and money in a proper meal. The choice was a bit overwhelming, but I get the feeling you can’t really go wrong. Unless you are veggie, of course, in which case your choice is limited to exactly one option — one more than in Germany! I felt opting for Currywurst would have been too easy and asked for an option including Sauerkraut. Can’t remember the name of the sausage but it was tasty, especially once I covered it in mustard(not too hot, not too sweet) and ketchup(not Heinz) — the crispy onion sprinkles were complimentary and took me right back to being a teenager. As you can probably tell by my condiment excitement, I usually avoid fast food outlets — this may not have been the last exception.

Currywurst in London? No question, go to one of the Herman ze German branches. It’s ze best. Around October 2014, Herman ze German opened its third branch in London. After Embankment and Soho, they now also have a little restaurant in Fitzrovia’s restaurant-wealthy Charlotte Street. The place feels slightly bigger than their Soho branch and the downstairs seating area is a little bit more formal. When I went there, I did not have much time, so Herman ze German was the perfect pre-drinks option. I quickly ordered a delicious guest wurst, which was a very tasty Krakauer, and found a place to sit downstairs. One of the stereotypical great things I like about Herman ze German is that a snack there can be pretty efficient — it usually does not take long until your meal is ready, and because it is uncomplicated comfort food, you can munch it down without contemplating about colours or textures or other things like that. Simply enjoy ze wurst and head on to your next stop. With the bar area downstairs, Herman ze German might also become a more viable option for drinks — but I have not yet checked their drinks menu at the new shop. Anyway, if you like currywurst or if you just need a quick bite before or after some drinks, Herman ze German is one of the best things that could happen to you!

Zer wurst is ze best! When I went to Berlin, the first thing someone took me to do was get a currywurst. The first thing. Before going to our Air BnB, before seeing any of the sites, before really even leaving the train station. We went outside and went to a famous currywurst spot that was located nearby and ate it outside with a gigantic beer and it was one of my favourite moments ion Europe. Herman ze German understands this feeling. They aren’t going to serve up gourmet meals or high class food, this is quick, fast and delicious meats and sauces. And hot dog if they don’t do it well. Order your food at the counter, sit at a table, eat, be happy. If you can’t find spots upstairs, they have lots more room downstairs, including a bar. Because if there’s one thing that goes well with currywurst, it is a beer. I originally put this at four stars but you know what? There isn’t a thing I don’t like about this spot. I am always very happy when I am sitting here, remembering my quick time in Germany. Bring on the wurst times!

I stumbled across this place as I waited for an event over the road, and I’m so glad I did. The food is surprisingly cheap for the area it’s located in, meaning my pork and veal sausage smothered in crispy onions and happiness came in under a fiver. It was fairly filling, but I could have eaten another one straight after!

Great food, As you can’t get proper sausages anywhere else in the UK, this is a great place to go to. The Currywurst was the best choice for me!

It’s cheap, it’s good, and the service was polite and fast. I got a large portion with fries(curry bratwurst and brok mix) and was filled up despite going in fairly hungry. There’s a bar downstairs and they have some drink specials around lunch, and they’re open pretty late — even on weekends. This’ll be a go-to place for me now.

«Herman Ze German», one should already give a few extra stars for that name which I can’t pronounce in any other way than in Jason Statham’s voice from Snatch. This place recently opened close to my work and so for the regular hangover-Friday I went to try it out last week for the first time. They have a lunch-box(sliced-up sausage with some fries), but I strongly recommend to go for the standard option: one of their 3 sausages(Brat, Bock or Chilli) in a roll(hot-dog!) with a portion of fries next to it. I took an extra portion of sauce(can’t find back the name) which was totally worth it(not sure if they otherwise give you some ketchup or mustard to go with it) and extra cheese(that made it definitely a calorie-bomb, but hey. it’s Friday!). If you go for the take-away option I recommend you squirt in some extra sauce on your way out though, as they didn’t give me that much mayo for my fries. Sausage roll was absolutely delicious and tasty. Fresh meat combined with a great sauce. The fries were perfect as well. Not the thick pub-chips, nor the too-thin fries you get at Byron but perfect medium-size fries you mostly find only in Germany, Belgium or The Netherlands. Hereby I declare Herman Ze German one of my new favourite lunch-spots. I already got my loyalty-card!

Really good German sausages and great service. The currywurst with chilli sauce is the best one with the lemonade. I also have to say, some of the waitresses are super gorgeous!
