Obviously in London there are so many great restaurants to choose from, having said that if you were in the area and looking for a nice place with excellent service, I would definitely recommend this one. While their menu was full of traditional options one would find in a steakhouse, they managed to put an interesting spin on some of those dishes. The duck for 2 prepared en flambé table side was a first for me.

Wow, what a great place. Space is lovely… Nice open space with not too many tables. By far, the best setting out of all hix locations. Meat is very very good with lovely service you would expect from the Mayfair establishment. I had porterhouse for two and it was really great piece of meat — one of the best I have had in London. It can go toe to toe with Hawksmoor. What an amazing piece of meat it was. Bone in fillet was also great — for the price(around £35) amazing quality of meat With great portion. Would definitely come back. The only reason why it is a four star is some dishes are just not well delivered., all side dishes were just average at best… Starters were okay but nothing mind blowing but come here for meat and you would not regret it.,

It’s hard to pinpoint why I was so disappointed in this restaurant as I had looked forward to dining there for quite a while. Perhaps my expectations were too high? The dining room is very posh and pleasant. The wait staff attentive enough. Our appetizers were good, not great, but good. My Atlantic Prawn Salad was good. The Scrumpy fried onions were nice. The problem was our steak, which is what they are known for. It was cold. I looked at it lying on the cutting board and wondered what the heck I was getting. It was flat, thin, and just looked blah! And, at around $ 50, a real disappointment. You would think at this point in my dining life I would have complained and sent it back, but truthfully I just wanted to finish and leave. At least they have a nice art collection to keep you amused. Nothing special except a big tab. Maybe it was just an off night? Maybe I’ll go back? Maybe not?

They were clearly not having a good day. First a warm was in one of the starters, then one of the sides was way too salty and once the billed arrived it had extra charges on it — not too mention that we actually had to get up from the table to get some attention from the staff. Definitely not the type of experience one expects from an establishment like this. I rarely give bad reviews, but with this one I just couldn’t

Nice restaurant in Browns Hotel. Lots of space at the tables. Food was good however waiter forgot who was having what so we needed to move plates once they were set. All in all, I would definitely return… One element that could be improved is the front of house… They were non existent both when entering and leaving…

I took my other half here for a special occasion and it absolutely delivered. Old, dark wood panelling coupled with new style chairs and some new pieces of modern art it had exactly the right balance. The food was high quality-I chose wrong on the day but the standard of cheffing was very high. Coupled with good service I would recommend this place to anyone. Worth noting the Donovan bar the other side of the mail entrance to the hotel-pricey cocktails but again very impressive.

this is for the new HIX at Browns. you can tell this joint used to be oldy-worldy, stuck up its own arse. but after a little effort, some very cool english pieces of art and some über polite members of staff you’ll find a reasonable gem in mayfair. we had the set menu £32 for 2 courses, or £38 for 3. negroni were a rip off at £12 each but were superb none the less, I forgot I was in W1. couldn’t fault the food. would recommend to take the misses or with friends/family for something swanky. def worth a look. ps booked last minute on a saturday and sat down at 930.

The newly re-launched restaurant in Browns hotel(used to be The Grill) has all the ingredients to great success, a brilliant chef, Lee Streton and an even better director of food Mark Hix, the master mind behind The Ivy. This restaurant specializes in British cuisine. All ingredients are seasonal and sourced at the best places. The restaurant has a rather classic style, but it doesn’t feel old or stuffy, it has beautiful wood panels and this contrast perfectly with the green color in details of furniture and upholstery, with stark white table linens. The service is fantastic, and its all together a lovely place.
