Pros: Great service Great location Great little front garden Great interior — so clean, spacious and almost like a labyrinth; you can circle around and walk from café to bar through these little connecting corridors. Absolutely LOVE that! Great coffee Cons: The desserts were not so uuuuhhhhmazing… I mean, they were nice, but far from mind blowing… I am used to having Ottolenghi and Planet Organic with it’s fresh juices around my house, so the expectations are pretty high. Generally, I do expect explosion of sweet and tangy in my mouth, but the cakes I received on my plate were more like a good base. Adding a little fruit sauces would make the dessert way less boring, but oh hey. They still were eeehhhmm… nice…

I came for an early Sunday dinner, but had such a lovely time I will be back to try brunch sometime. The place was empty when we arrived but people flowed in and out while we were there, the service was excellent — friendly and knowledgeable, chatty but not overbearing. The food was delicious, I had potato and thyme Ravioli with Octopus and Courgette Ragu, and it was really tasty. We shared a few side orders and the triple cooked potatoes really stood out for me. The ice cream was really, really good. They had a big selection of ice creams and sorbets and between us we tried a fair few but next time I will just have multiple scoops of the almond, it was sublime.

Solid 4-star brunch on Church Street! After a brisk spring walk my mom and I were quite famished and came across Homa. I spied coconut pancakes with poached fruit on the menu and many late afternoon weekend revelers with champagne flutes in hand. Yes, lets brunch… yes! We were quickly situated at our table, given both lunch and brunch menus as well as extensive drink lists. My mom opted for a glass of French Sauvignon Blanc(£4) and I a glass of prosecco and a latte(hey when I brunch away from the baby I like to live indulgently!). The wine was well priced. I enjoyed the latte as well… I(somewhat foolishly) deviated from the original muse, coconut pancake, and instead opted for the almond crumble with poached egg, burrata and ham. It was ok, but better on paper — and served a bit too cold. Next time — pancake! My mom enjoyed her chicken salad. We split the chocolate tart and it was a fine way to end the meal… their sweets are top notch. Service was wonderful. Would return and like the casual vibe, location and potential for outdoor seating on the patio… If you’ve had the pancake please report back!

Came for a bit of brunch. They also serve a separate brunch menu til 3pm(4 on the weekends) We both had the thick cut bacon, poached eggs, bubble n squeak with hollandaise sauce. Yummo and filling. Add a fresh apple juice and bloody mary and the bill came to around £30. Plus there’s lovely outside seating to enjoy, except when every yellow jacket within a 10 mile radius decides to hangout with you.

Had a delicious breakfast here and the pizza looks lovely as well. While the service is quite slow and scattered, as long as you’re willing to wait a bit, you’ll realize the food is worth the wait and it’s cozy so at least it’s enjoyable! Highly recommend smoked salmon with scrambled eggs with lovely sourdough toast, and their bloody marys are solid.

«It’s like being in someone’s posh country kitchen.’ Totally. Homa has that Habitat designed, white walls and yuppie kitchen feel that seems out of place in Stokie. It’s nice but not very cosy. Perfect for a fancy brunch with your mother-in-law. I wasn’t overly impressed with my brunch choice, eggs royale, that’s eggs benedict with spinach and smoked salmon. It was good, but it didn’t blow me away. Very prettily arranged and precise. I can see how popular it would be in the summer time with a huge patio outside for cocktails, but it didn’t tick all my boxes for brunch.

AWFUL service. Slow, lacking in any sort of customer service and sloppy. The food was okay, nothing special. Wouldn’t go back, far better places on Church Street.

I have given Homa a few more chances. It’s OK, I like the venue and, not knowing Church st that well, is often somewhere I suggest to meet with friends who live up there outside my comfort zone(like Wood Green or Tottenham). My experiences vary so I think I should break it down 3 stars: I have tried their pizza at lunchtime and it was tasty, actually a very good pizza. Just before the food arrived we were asked politely if we would move seats to accommodate a larger group, we replied that we normally wouldn’t mind but my friend was breast feeding and it wasn’t really the best time to move across the restaurant with a baby attached to her boob. It was slightly awkward so when we said ‘no unless they mind waiting’ he left us in peace and the food arrived soon after. 5 stars: For brunch it was great, my French toast was yummy, nice and thick and with strawberries on top. 4 stars: Their wine and food evening was fun, the wines were good and for around £40 we got 6 glasses of very nice wine along with 6 courses of decent quality Italian food. Nothing amazing mind you, but a pleasant evening with a specialist on hand to tell us a bit about why he chose the wine etc. They do these evenings about once a month. 3 stars: My previous review describes my dinner experience here which was OK-ish with unremarkable food. So(3+4+5+3)÷4=3.75. Best give it a 4

Had a really lovely brunch here with friends! The staff were sweet and accommodating, the drinks great, food gorgeous and tasty. The green tea almond cake very much worth its own visit or saving room for dessert. Pretty sure all of us would happily go back anytime.

I like drinks that taste of summer, Homa serves up drinks that taste of summer, I like Homa. I had a sneaky feeling that I would fall in love with this place. They have a wonderful Italian menu and it’s in one of my favourite parts of London. It wasn’t the love affair I expected. I was lovely, it just didn’t wow me. They have good cocktails, the elderflower vodka martini was delightful, but they aren’t a cocktail bar. They are limited. The main meals are mostly more that £15 which I think is a bit pricey but their pizzas are fantastic. I have a suspicion that there are better pizza on Church street but the cool décor here appeals to the modern diner. Yes I hate myself a little for using that expression. They seem to be brunch specialists here so I will go back to try it, and if I want a cocktail I’ll always pop in their door but honestly, it was just a tad disappointing.

Reading the bad reviews which are generally down to poor service and getting a table, I do see where they’re coming from. But then again, this is a new(ish) restaurant, on a popular street with a great menu and great décor — don’t you think that maybe you should book ahead?(Which is easy as you can do it online.) I’ve had dinner here a few times and brunch once, accompanying sarahdrinkwater. Both times the service has been a bit slow, but I’ve found that it doesn’t really bother me as I can take my time enjoying my food, company and surroundings.

I tried to go here last weekend for brunch. I walked in to receive awful attitude. I sat down at a table to wait for a friend… after the rudeness from the initial person, i waited… and waited… nobody came over. After 10 minutes I went up to the same rude chap to ask if I was meant to order from him or somebody would come over? A waitress answered me saying that she would come to my table. I waited again, and watched her and other waiters go backwards and forwards and still I was ignored. During this time another couple of girls came in and sat at the table next to me. As i was getting my coat on, they too had to go and ask to be served. 20 minutes later, I commented to another waiter as I was walking out that nobody had come to my table at all for the 20 mins I had been there, despite asking. He apologised but didn’t look like he cared really. In my time being there, I thought the place looked nice, I would have liked to have tried it. Looking at other peoples food though, I’m glad I didn’t get to order in the end. Can’t say anything about the menu and I never got to see one. The wait staff didn’t seem too busy, they just seemed not bothered. Oh well, won’t be going back and I wouldn’t recommend anyone going there, unless you enjoy sitting hungry for a long time. In the end I went to Olivio across the street and was greeted with a smile and a menu straight away.

I can’t cope with a black coffee costing more than £2.00 on Church Street. A coffee and cake cost £6! Quite unnecessarily expensive I thought. There are excellent places to eat on Church St. — Alastair’s for example — that don’t rip you off like this. And it’s not so special. I won’t go again.

This is a perfect place for weekend brunch! I stumbled upon it accidentally, walked in with friends and had one of the best brunches ever in the area! Beautiful interiors, friendly and handsome service and proper Italian wood-fired oven pizza! Do not hesitate to try it!

Brand new on the block, Homa is definitely worth a try if you are looking for a nice meal on Stoke Newington Church Street. A bustling street, there is a lot of competition in this area, so you’d hope that new providers have done their research and are keen to provide something unique. Homa has done that well. In a street littered with Indian and Mexican, Homa cuts through with high quality English offerings. A short but diverse and reliable menu, is complemented by an extensive choice of drinks. A personal highlight — having Coopers Pale Ale(Australian brew) recommended within minutes of arriving. They have a nice choice of wines between £14 — £25/bottle, but for those more discerning, they also have the option to buy exclusive brands from their bottle shop upstairs. We ate a mix of meat focussed mains and a vegetarian pasta. All substantial portions for the price, and we probably were over zealous ordering three sides for four people — a lot was left as we were so full! The dessert menu is again limited, but in a positive way — all killer, no filler. One choc, one cheese board, one fruity, and a highly recommended tiramisu. There is a nice choice of seating — outside(but pleasantly sectioned off from the street), downstairs which is bright, airy and modern, and also plenty of seating upstairs. It would be a great place to host a dinner get together with friends and a good mix of tables for two and tables for 10. The service was a little mixed. Great recommendations and friendly, although nothing over the top. We sat where we could see the chefs preparing our meals(which I love, but I know puts some people off) but there is really only a table or two with this view. You could tell the staff were fresh and excited about this new venture, but of course it remains to be seen if this energy survives the first quarter. In all, a highly recommended option in this fantastic area of London. Park yourself on a lovely table outside with a chilled glass of Rose after a hard day trawling the local shops before the summer ends!
