Honest will always be one of my most visited burger chains in London — it’s so hard to find a good burger served on the rare side, so when I find one it automatically becomes a favourite. I tried the festive special at their branch in Tooting. Honest kept it quite simple with just one festive option — a burger comprising of a Ginger Pig beef patty topped with a well sized slab of brie coated in poppy seeds and breadcrumbs, smoked bacon, cranberry sauce and rocket. Perfectly pink in the middle, no overly dominant flavours — my only niggle was that I’m not overly keen on poppy seeds, but I can’t really make personal preference a criticism. It was festive but not over the top so, and the brie was a generous slab, no stinginess on toppings here. Pssst… I can’t talk about Honest without giving the infamous rosemary salted chips a mention. They’re served on the side with every burger and are proper squishy yet crispy chip shop style chips to die for.

I popped into Honest Burger Tooting a few minutes before closing and after a short hesitation they let us in, which was really generous of them. I’ve not tried Honest Burger before so was looking forward to this. The burgers arrived quickly and came with rosemary chips which were so moreish I finished them all. I ordered a standard burger with onion relish and pickle, it was delicious. Really one of my favourite burger joints, it’s just a shame this branch isn’t local to me. We finished are meals, quickly ran downstairs to use the Ladies then I thanked all the staff for letting us eat so late. They were all very gracious and thanked us for eating there. I will definitely eat there the next time I’m in the area.

Massive kudos to this place. We arrived at 10:58, two minutes before closing and they let us sit down and order. So impressed, as most places would have refused and we would have been forced for a late night McDs. After sitting down and ordering, the food arrived within 10 mins and we were offered condiments and made to feel welcome despite being only people left in the restaurant. Food wise, the Rosemary fries were absolutely divine, crispy and nicely spiced. So good, I wanted to eat them twice. The burger was dripping with chargrill and the chicken was cooked to perfection. At 9 pounds some may say slightly overpriced, but gotta say you pay for quality and this was serious quality. The branch itself is a bit out of the way for me, but next time I’m in Tooting, I’ll definitely be back.

We all know Honest make the most succulent meat wrapped in brioche bun deliciousness, but what I wanted to say about this particular restaurant is a) the staff are amazing — we went on the ‘500 free burgers’ opening day, anyone who can still be smiling after that kinda of crazy busy on the hottest day of the year is awesome. But not only were they still smiling they were happy, chatty, helpful, friendly. Just generally made our visit so much fun! And b) they sell ‘Wolfie Smith’ a beer brewed literally 10 mins away! And it’s excellent! So well done Honest, you’ve done it again :)
