great café. The food is good, coffee great and the atmosphere cosy.

From the delicious, antipodean-style coffee served in glasses rather than cups, to the friendly baristas and soothing music(think Chet Faker or the Kooks), this place is pretty damn wonderful. For a(very filling) brunch, I recommend the pancakes served with bananas, cream, and golden syrup.

Great food! Very tasty and a good portion size. All the food around us also looked great, definitely worth a revisit to try more dishes. Tea and coffee was also very nice. Service was attentive and all the staff were nice.

I always get suckered into restaurants with fun names. The Hummingbird is no exception. Various tasty breakfasts for under £8, slightly more £££ than the rest of Shepherd’s Bush, but you can see and taste the extra quality you’re getting. Its a charming and cosy little place with nice enough ladies working, but the prices do a seem a wee bit too high. Maybe that’s just London.

Came back for a second time, this experience was better. Mentioned the unimpressive vinegar tasting eggs I had last time so this time got waaaay better poached eggs. Service was better too. So will give this another star

My first stop on my most recent weekend in London, Hummingbird Café set me up for my adventures around the city. After two hours on the train and a short walk through Sheperds Bush, we found ourselves a corner table with bench seating and settled in for a catch up. The décor here is lovely, with a very yummy mummy demographic, so plenty of high chair/booster seats are available. Chalkboards show the day’s specials, and cakes/pastries adorn the front counter. I’ve been told amazing things about the pancakes — which always run out at the weekends — but was after something more substantial. I ordered the chorizo and pepper open sandwich, which was served on the crustiest ciabatta — lightly toasted and soaking in the oil from the chorizo perfectly. It’s slightly more expensive that I’d like to pay, but this is perhaps a Manchester vs. London pricing reaction! Lovely place to spend some time, especially if it’s sunny — the outdoor seating looked very tempting.

We’ve just moved to NW London and there are always the most important things to find first. Things like a supermarket and a park to walk the dog. Then Brunch. It’s pretty high up there with important things when you’re so unashamedly middle class. ;) Hummingbird is like a 20 min bus ride away from our new place. I found it just by perusing Unilocal, read a few reviews and was on my way; preparing for the possibility of having to queue for my eggies. Fortunately we were in luck. As soon as we walked in the guy seated us straight away. It’s kinda like… your Aunties front room has been turned in to a café. It’s very eclectic furniture, styled in that thrown together fashion. I did see one rather tall gentleman sitting down to what seemed like a kiddies table and chairs. he didn’t seem to care, but it was quite funny. :) The staff were super friendly and accommodating, but service(in terms of getting our actual food) was a bit slow. But then I was very hungry, so that always exacerbates things. I ordered eggs benedict(my benchmark for any brunch place) and –m ordered the baked eggs with chorizo. They were both delicious and cooked perfectly. I had tea that came in an individual brewing cup which was very cute and –m ended up having beer as he got the chance to look at the menu before ordering — I’ll know for next time! It’s a shame that nowhere really over this side of the Atlantic has totally got the brunch thing and as usual there was a severe lack of mimosas. All in all a good place and we will definitely be heading back there again. There’s seating outside, so it will can sit there, enjoy brunch in the sunshine and take the dog. :) WIn.

Adorable and cosy café on a quiet street in Shepherds Bush. The staff were very friendly and attentive and although the menu wasn’t huge there were a lot of yummy options. I went with the vegetarian club, which came with a fried egg on it, aka making it breakfast material even though it was on the lunch menu. It took a while for everyones food to come out so by the time it came I was a ravenous animal. I am not sure how they intend someone to eat this tall sandwich but I deconstructed it and ate it all in separate pieces. It was delicious and my favorite part may have been the toasted bread with butter. It also came with a large portion of avocado which was very generous. Would definitely come back here and am eager to try some of their desserts!

Why oh why has it taken me so long to get to Hummingbird? This sweet little café is a hidden gem of Shepherds Bush. Well maybe not so hidden as it was absolutely rammed. We were able to get a table without waiting and the staff immediately came and took out drink orders. I had a flat white and it was fantastic, also, I always appreciate a little foam art in my drink and they did not disappoint with a pretty little fern on top. For brunch I ordered the Eggs Royale. It was lovely. Perfectly poached eggs, fresh salmon and rich hollandaise sauce. Interior is very homey with pretty hummingbird wallpaper and the staff were all very friendly, and efficient which is very appreciated in a busy café. Already planning my next visit and what I will be getting. MMMMM.

My friend and I regularly go to the hummingbird with the children we look after for a caffeine fix and something yummy to eat. It’s very children friendly and you can lap up the beautiful sunshine on a lovely spring day with having the option to sit outside. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Highly recommend you pop in for a tastey, fun and cute, café experience.

Absolutely incredible. My husband and I frequent this local café at weekends for the best cappuccino in west London and the odd cheeky brownie. How delighted we were, then, to find they have started to serve food in the evenings — yippee! I’ve now been there twice, once with himself and again tonight with my parents. Both times we’ve been astounded by the quality of both the food and the service — a friendly, efficient server and sweet, humble but extraordinarily talented chef. The evening menu is comprised of about 7 or 8 small dishes to be shared, and were both delicious and surprisingly filling(we allowed for 1 ½ or 2 each). Every little dish was beautifully thought out and perfectly executed.(Actually, pretty much the whole meal had the folks in raptures — it was almost embarrassing…). Somehow, I even enjoyed the cauliflower, and that’s a shock in itself. I’m already a fan of the sinful cakes on offer, but this evening thought I give the Earl Grey crème brûlée a try for dessert. Served in a teacup with homemade shortbread it was nothing short of heaven. Thoroughly stuffed and feeling marginally guilty, we waddled home. Can’t wait for next time.

Love this place anytime I’m in the area great food, simple menu good service and trendy for all you people watchers. Only criticism is the premises is quite small so there isn’t much space. Good take away and good latte!

Due to ill health I never managed to eat nor drink at this café despite living nearby. However I was pleasantly suprised by the quality of the food and welcoming attitude of the staff. I met up there with a couple of friends and they too enjoyed the atmosphere. If I had to find a fault it would be the drinks’ size which was a tad small. The staff don’t expect tipping because a gratuity of 12.5% is added to the bill as a matter of course. I will definitely come back again in the near future.

One word: coffee. This is heaven-sent as a local coffee place when I am based in London … I often call them with an order and then wander on by, to grab cappuccino and croissant with ham, cheese, tomato and avocado. Or mouth-watering chocolate and raspberry brownie(lasts me two days!). It is definitely the BEST breakfast in Shepherds Bush, with Eggs Florentine being my fave. Extensive menu for breakfast or you can ask for variations and staff have always been accommodating. When needing a home-baked cake for team birthdays with our guys and gals at The Happiness Centre down the road, I sometimes buy a whole cake! Try the carrot cake … simply incredible and a winner every time!!! Haven’t tried dinner there yet … must do so!

The food is a bit hit and miss, however the staff are generally lovely. On my first visit I had the avocado breakfast which was disappointing, the avocado was cold and underripe and it was a rather small dish on the whole. However my partner’s egg florentine was very tasty and generous. The next time I went I ordered just that, but the spinach was not washed properly and the whole thing was gritty. The coffee is on the acidic side and I won’t have coffee there again,(and neither will the women who were at the table next to us). They did acknowledge it though I didn’t have to pay for our coffees. I won’t return in a hurry, but will probably try it out again over summer.

I just had the most awful, overpriced breakfast of my life. This is a local café for me and I have frequented it as there are not many nice cafes in the Shepherds Bush area. In the past I have generally enjoyed their breakfasts, sandwiches, and coffees, but as of today I will never return. I ordered the hummingbird breakfast which is their English breakfast. I’ve had this breakfast several times before, and it was always consistent. I might add that I left my debit card at home and paid for the breakfast with my credit card before ordering because I wanted to make sure that the card worked. When my breakfast came I was dumbfounded. Instead of using the nice sourdough that I’ve always had in the past, they used two pieces of white loaf bread(untoasted and over buttered). The beans and the roasted tomatoes were cold. The eggs which I asked to have fried were poached and not even seasoned(usually they are topped with herbs), and the portion of bacon was tiny. 8 quid for that? Are you joking? I could have gone to another café and paid half the price for a decent breakfast or simply made one myself. I don’t know if they cut corners because I paid for the meal before ordering or if the place is just going downhill, but I won’t be returning. Oh, and I find it really cheeky that they advertise the sparkling water they sell on the menu as San Pellegrino which somehow entitles them to overcharge for sparkling water that isn’t even San Pellegrino.

Lovely little café with an excellent selection of healthy and sweet food choices. During my visit, I had a quiche with a generous portion of rocket salad on the side. Simply delicious… The café is really quite tiny, but nonetheless it is super comfortable and the staff makes you feel right at home. The combination of these two factors making this indeed my kind of place! They also have a nice seating area outside, wo I can imagine that in the warmer months, it is quite lovely to sit out here and watch the people walk by…
