Came here for the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory afternoon tea.
It was awesome.
I can fully understand why it’s booked up until Xmas. The food is excellent and the ideas genuinely made me feel like Willy Wonka had made it (though without the weird punishments which in reality are truly terrifying when you think about it…)
The good thing about reviewing afternoon tea is that it’s already broken down into components for you!
The sandwiches:
Good not great. The beef sandwich on rye bread was dryer than a {insert whichever metaphor you prefer}. There were also non sandwiches which was actually quite nice. A quiche, a brioche bun and a tomato salad on what I can only call a cracker? It was nice though.
The sweets:
Obviously the star of the show. When they came out you were a little bit wowed. It was all really fun looking and tasted awesome. Absolutely no complaints about this in any way. This was ace.
The tea:
ACTUALLY TASTED OF CHOCOLATE. Now please don’t withdraw my British credentials but I’m not a big tea drinker. However this was really good and tasted of chocolate and tea.
The cocktail:
I saw it had whiskey in it and as a manly mans man I ordered the cocktail. It came in a tiny cocktail glass and a tea pot (steaming with dry ice) and was bright pink. It was awesome. Tasted great (and of whiskey which was nice) and you got a decent quantity!
The service:
Meh, it was ok. This is why it’s 4 and not 5 stars. I had to wait for about 20 minutes to pay and I know I only had an hour to get home before my sugar rush faded…
I would fully recommend coming here but I wouldn’t go back again. If that makes sense…

The restaurant is on a mezzanine floor looking out over the bar and despite clearly being a more upmarket venue still felt very relaxed and laid back with the comfiest chairs I think I have ever eaten in. Our waiter was incredibly helpful and very knowledgable despite only having worked at the restaurant for four weeks. (Although he did top up my still water with sparkling mid-way through the meal, yeuch!)
At lunchtime you have the choice of either the a la carte or fixed price menu both of which change frequently. Every dish was beautifully presented but I found my own dish a bit bland and was left with food envy of those around me.

What you need to do with your weekend is go to a free pour Prosecco brunch at Indigo and not worry about the fact that Monday is just around the corner.
Tucked away inside a hotel, Indigo is home to a £35 free pour brunch. I keep saying free pour so you understand how amazing it really is. Let it sink in. Free pour. Bottomless. All you can drink. Can you drink a lot? Good! Come here!
For £35 you will get two courses, choose between starter/main or main/dessert and 2 hours worth of free pour prosecco. Coffee is not included but who needs that? The staff are lovely and polite and will not rush you. They will come by and refill your glasses before you’ve even had a chance to get to the bottom of it. They’re lovely and friendly and will be more than willing to indulge you in a little cheeky ‘you’ve got a drinking problem’ humour.
In the battle to bring brunch to London (why isn’t it catching on?) Indigo has got it down! Excellent full English, massive burger and fries, pancakes, mouth watering French toast and bacon (do you know how hard it is to find that in London?) You can even have a salad as your starter so you don’t feel too guilty: P
They let us stay past the time limit which I was grateful for after showing up embarrassingly late halfway through my party’s meal.
Great experience with a bunch of under-watered American pals who said they weren’t going to go for the free pour menu but were ultimately converted.
Be a convert, don’t be a downer. Free pour!

I came here for a Sunday boozy brunch with two of my guy friends visiting from America. There aren’t many unlimited drink/prosecco brunch places in London and I did my research before choosing this one.
We opted for the two courses and unlimited prosecco deal for £35 each. Among our plates were: the burger trio, English breakfast, eggs benedict, truffled egg brioche with mushrooms, and blueberry pancakes. Every single thing was delicious. The food was mouth-watering. I was happy even without the alcohol.
But the prosecco made everything that much better!
Although some of the reviews say they kind of slow down service with the refills, i didn’t find that. I was with two guys who can really put it back, one of whom is 6’7″ and and has a high tolerance. And they refilled our drinks every 5 or 10 minutes. It was fantastic. I was so loopy I lost total track of time. I do wish they had given us a one refill warning. They told us while refilling our last refill (at the 2 hour mark) that our time was up.
The service was otherwise excellent and for the money, it was a nearly perfect sunday brunch. If you want a classy boozy brunch, this is the place to go. Definitely book ahead. A couple girls tried to walk in for a table before us and got denied, the waitress said they were totally booked up.
Anyone up for a Unilocal boozy brunch? Yes? Yes!

A bit of a disappointment really. We know One Aldwych well and returned for dinner at Indigo. Somehow it didn’t all hang together as well as it should (or used to).
Greeted very warmly by the head waitress, we got the table we wanted with a view over the lobby. But our food was really not good enough.
Our starters (supposedly crispy duck) were unidentifiable and didn’t taste of anything. And they were served on a piece of slate which made the accompanying salad impossible to keep off the table. Dish or plate please.
Then our mains: they do fantastic salads — you can build your own — and I would return for one of them. But my halibut was the smallest piece I have ever seen and the other mains were average only.
Desserts not bad but almost overkill after the modest portions which preceded them.
All in all I wanted to like this experience more than I did — they need to sort their menu out and at those prices the portions should not be so miniscule.

Unlimited free Prosecco! Do I have your attention? Good, then I’ll continue…
I have only been here once on a Sunday for a friend’s birthday brunch but we had a great time and the food was lovely. We opted for the set menu which included unlimited free Prosecco… and we made the most of it! I ordered the creamed sweetcorn and crab soup followed by the fish pie — all in all a fish-tastic meal — and both were very tasty.
The waiters were very attentive and friendly, although perhaps might have had a word in their ear by the manager to slow down on serving us too much Prosecco… when they say unlimited I’m not 100% this is so.
I have taken them down a star merely for the reason that they did slow down on our drinks service after only a couple of glasses each and we had to ask for more. Although we certainly couldn’t be described as ‘rowdy’ we were having a giggle and this is a fairly quiet restaurant so we did actively have to try and keep it down. Other than that the food was great and the brunch deal was good value for money.
I’d definitely recommend if you fancy a slightly upmarket Sunday brunching experience (and a few glasses of Prosecco!)

I suppose the more I rate restaurants the pickier I get with giving out my stars. Let’s break it down.
Service — Was very attentive throughout the meal.
Food — Overall was a little on the salty side. Both the seared tuna salad and the beef short ribs would’ve been slightly better if I had a bowl of plain rice on the side! (you asians know what I mean). It was well presented and all and think it has a lot of potential because the short ribs were cooked to perfection because it literally melted in your mouth. The 50% toptable deal was good but not sure if I’d return without it.

I went here today for a friend’s birthday brunch and we had a fantastic time.
Indigo’s brunch menu is packed full of hangover-friendly treats, with a great selection of soups, salads, things on toasts, brunchy main courses such as bubble and squeak and fish pie and a great selection of stodgy puds.
I selected a delicious creamed sweetcorn and crab soup followed by a beautifully-presented kedgeree. You can choose any comibination of two courses which comes to £24. However, the best thing about this offer is that it includes UNLIMITED PROSECCO. And I mean unlimited — they are continuously topping up your glass. Until the brunch ends at 3pm, that is.
Highly recommended for a lazy yet classy catch-up with good friends.

A very good restaurant, set on a mezzanine overlooking the bar in the lobby of this very smart and very modern hotel.
Quiet (except when the bar below is full), fairly laid-back, individual, elegant and a bit corporate (in a good way) — don’t bring a date here but for a business lunch or dinner it will be ideal. Less ‘power lunch’ than the Axis restaurant in the basement below.
