Went to Jubo when it was at Bedroom Bar and absolutely LOVED the chicken wings. Boneless or wings they were one of best I’ve had in London so I’m hoping to go to their new place here soon to try again. Jubo is definitely one of the tastiest coated chicken I’ve had so eager to come try again.

Almost, just ALMOST5*s. This place does Korean right. The steel bowls, the stickiness in sauces and the bulgolgi rice bowls are really tasty. Authenticness? I don’t know. But tasty for now is better than authentic. Granted, I’ve had supposedly authentic Korean in Koreatown and this comes pretty darn close — sans the smokey nature of Korean restaurants. Definitely a fan. And loving what Exmouth Market is becoming.

Yay! A Korean joint near my work. Tried it during lunch hour so the place was very much deserted. We tried the galbi, japchae bokkeumbap, bulgogi rice bow, and of course the fried chicken. Now, japchae and the fried chicken were the definitely my highlights. Both very delicious and well prepared. As someone who loves spicy food, I would say volcanic really wasnt that hot. It seemed they just used more sriracha for each scale — which is not the usual korean fried chicken sauce I dont think. But was tasty nonetheless. The beef dishes were lacking in flavor. For the price you pay — you really dont get that much food. The bowls are quite small and you dont get many pieces of meat either. But it is Exmouth Market…

Went across the city, raining to get to Jubo 45 mins before closing(we went to their old Old St location before). Got there and they had decided, since they had no clients for a while, to close 45 minutes EARLY! That is definitely no way to gain clients and I’m definitely never coming back. If it says open till 10:30, ITSHOULDBEOPENTIL10:30

My first time trying Korean food and it was worthwhile. We decided to order in Korean food for lunch at my office and we phoned ahead. I ordered the Bulgogi Rice Bowl with the spicey chicken. There are other variations of this dish available Skirt Beef or sweet tofu. We we arrived the food we had ordered was waiting for us. We did have an order to place when we arrived and the restaurant was noticeably busy, but we did have quiet a wait for the takeaway. Despite placing our take away order before other customers. A few other people got theirs before us. This is just how it happened. The food was delicious. I would totally recommend the spicey chicken to anyone who likes a mildly spicey meal. The flavours where on point with the portion size being equally respectable for the price we paid. Overall the food and service was really good, despite the slow to arrive order that we placed on arrival. You must try this place out for either take away or sit in. It states on their menu that they do not serve items that are wheat or gluten free. The menu is also NOT vegan friendly.

Out of all those BBQ meat, I found the chicken bulgogi really stood out. It had a lovely sweet and savoury marinated dressing which tasted wonder when we wrapped it with lettuce with a few drops of ssamjang dressing. The final dish was the char-grilled pork secreto, the meat was still very moist with a real deep richness to it which was such a delight. My dinner at Jubo was a real meaty affair, it has remained the same good standard if I was to compare to the pop up site. They have also added some new dishes such as bar bits and rice dishes to give diner more choices just in case if you are seeking a lighter meal. For the«real» KFC lovers, trust me, Jubo is the real deal.

The chicken is great — although the hot is not very hot, more sweet and spicy than chilli fire. It’s worth visiting for the chicken alone. Other dishes are hit and miss — the kimchi fried rice is good and plentiful, the lotus root crisps are just a bowl of crunchy(and in some cases burnt) oil. The black noodles are stodge central — potato plus noodles! — but that’s to be expected of Korean food generally I think. The flavour is a bit basic though, I couldn’t taste squid and the potatoes make it a bit powdery. The seaweed is salty and crunchy and all thins it should be and I’m told the buns are good. Aside from the chicken though, all a bit meh. The chicken isn’t cheap so you’ll be tempted to try other stuff, but I’d stick with the chicken. THECHICKEN.

Handicapped by the raging Tube Strike, my friend and I were forced to change our plans to something closer to home, and we decided to check out the newly opened Jubo at Exmouth Market. He is a frequent visitor of Jubo’s first location, a pop-up on Rivington Street in Shoreditch, and to my surprise, he knew most of the staff at the Exmouth Market location too, as a lot of them have moved over. The owner explained to us that the new location is much better for the restaurant, as the clientele at Exmouth Market is much more focused on food, and it’s busier on weekdays, whereas the crowd in Shoreditch is more about the drinks, and heaving only on Fridays and Saturdays. When we came, it was happy hour for soju cocktails, so I got a whisky based one, and my friend got the sojutini with muddled cucumber. Mine was served in a copper mug, the type I had when I went to Duck & Rice by Alan Yau, but it was full of ice and I didn’t care much for the drink. I think this place is much better for the Asahi on tap(only served in half pints due to their licence), bottled Korean Hite beer, and the red wine that came highly recommended was quite decent as well. As for the food, we ordered their famous fried chicken as part of the Jubo Special, which was 2 drumsticks, 2 strips, 1 side, and 1 beer for £15. We got 1 each of the drumsticks and strips in Soy Garlic and Hot, though to be honest, the Hot wasn’t all that spicy and is more like an enjoyable mild. The drumsticks are also quite large, and all in all, it is a generous portion. Fun fact, their recipe apparently includes vodka in the batter in order to get crispy air bubbles when fried. How creative! We chose rice for our side, and on top of that, we also had a seaweed salad, barbecued iberico pork(apparently this is an actual type of pork, not just the jamon iberico that you think of), and two choices of meat off of the newly introduced«bar bites» tapas style section. Everything was delicious. We were also given a snack of fried seaweed to nibble on while we enjoyed drinks after dinner, but there was a lot of sugar in it, so I wasn’t a big fan. But all in all, I enjoyed my dining experience at Jubo, and I think they do meat spectacularly well. It is a friendly, chilled out place that fits in perfectly at Exmouth Market.
