Jumpup is rapidly becoming the preferred dance school in Hampstead.

Many of our children appear in adverts & films (Black Woman, Les Mis) and on the West End Stage (Sound of Music, Oliver, Annie)

Our show in November was a great success as were the Musical Theatre, Bollywood & Contemporary classes taught by guest teachers at the end of each term.

We teach RAD Ballet, Street Jazz, Tap & Modern. All classes are taught by professional, CRB checked, fully qualified teachers.

We also offer private lessons in prep for RAD & ISTD examinations as well as coaching & mentoring for teaching qualifications.

Dances for Festivals and Audition dances for School Entrance Exams can be commissioned.

Jumpup produces a professional show every two years

and gets invites to participate in local event such as Ham& High Festival at the Embassy Theatre. We have also performed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at Wigmore Hall.

History

Established in 2005.

Jumpup was formed by Erna Kuenen and Debbie Gaddas as a response to requests from local parents who wanted quality dance classes for their children.

«Being parents ourselves, we recognise that at the end of a hard academic day at School, a child has a need for a fun, group activity that builds physical stamina whilst developing their social skills.»

Erna, Debbie and Carol first met while training at the Stella Mann School of Dancing (London) and whilst their subsequent careers have diverged, they are now delighted to be working together, bringing their expertise to a new generation of young talent!

Our philosophy is quite simple … getting the very best from our pupils whilst ensuring maximum enjoyment.

Most of our students also take Royal Academy of Dance Examinations, especially now UCAS points are awarded for Grades 6, 7 & 8 and Vocational examinations

Meet the Business Owner

Erna K.

Business Owner

Born in the Netherlands Erna came to the UK to study at the Royal Academy of Dance. After graduation she returned to the Netherlands to teach at a private ballet school but soon returned to continue her studies at the Stella Mann College in London to gain further teaching qualifications. Over the next 6 years she danced professionally travelling the world before settling down back in the UK where she became an RAD examiner.

In 2000 she gained a BPhil (Hons) from Durham followed by a PGCE from The Institute of Education.

In 2005 jumpup was formed in collaboration with Carol Walmsley & Deborah Gaddas, all Stella mann graduates. jumpup runs professional classes for all ages at their premises at King’s College and at the Mill Hill Music Complex.

Currently Erna still teaches for Stella Mann Performing Arts College, at St Mary’s School Hampstead & Rimon in Golders Green as well as examining for the RAD all over the world.
