Kemp’s Signs

Although I haven’t fulfilled my lifelong ambition of having a living-​room lit entirely by garish neon tubing, I now know where I can purchase the goods to do it. Kemp Signs is a local Dalston business that specialises in custom-​made neon lighting for small businesses that want to catch the eye. Naturally enough the shopfront itself, stocked to the gills with all manner of bright and flashy bulbs, catches the eyes of passers-​by. There is another outlet near Mile End.

Pretty good. Not that it’s anything I’d be in the market for. But, if you want a sign made for anything, then it appears that Kemps are the people for you.
The company is over 135 years old, and has really moved with the times. So whilst this little shop is merely the shop-​front, most of their work goes on behind the scenes. So you pick what you want from the categories they have ready-​selected, and then they make if for you.
Even from the small range they have in this shop, it’s clear that they’re pretty good at what they do. And I suppose you would be if you’d been doing it this long. Both the people I spoke to came across very much like they were ‘designers’, so it’s nice to think of the art behind their products.
Yup, was quite impressed, even though a big neon sign stating ‘Cocktails’ isn’t quite what I’m in the market for, the one here looked really good. Want signs??? Come here!
