So we were walking down Church street and saw a little spot with macarons in the window. So we went in to check them out. Le Parc is a tiny deli with some tables and some items in a glass case. They make coffee and drinks and sell some items like pasta and sauces on the shelves in the back. And then there are the desserts in the window. «Hey, so what flavours are the macarons,» we asked the woman working behind the counter. «Ummm,» she said looking at them. «I don’t know.» What? Ok. She looked at them and then looked to the other person in the store, who was sitting at the table and asked her what flavours. Her response: «I don’t know.» So they took some guesses. They thought one was a pistachio and another rose, so we got one of each. Turns out they were half right, pistachio for sure but the other was raspberry, something we found out when already had walked away. That’s pretty bad guys. Not sure I’d come back.

Le Parc is one of many little cafes along Stoke Newington Church Street. I’ve been here several times now, mainly for quick meetings and never with enough time to have more than a coffee. While it’s the perfect extension to a freelance home office(free wifi …) it is actually more of a relaxed cosy place than your typical hipster with Mac hangout. This part of town is fairly quiet on a mid-week morning but I’d imagine Le Parc to be very busy it weekends.

Best coffee in the area, doesn’t seem to matter who of the staff who makes it, it’s always very good. I rather walk a bit further to have my coffee from here than risk it with any of my more local establishments — i’m on the Brownswood Rd side of the park.

Please avoid for sandwiches! I ordered 5 for friends this Sunday, and was given the worst sandwiches I think I’ve ever had. Huge big«ciabattas», uncooked, with TINY amounts of filling. There was more butter in the sandwiches than there were vegetables and meat. Avoid!
