The stores having a bit of a rebuild so mid October till 6th December it will be closed! I haven’t been here for a while but I was pleasantly surprised by their fresh bakery section which is self serve! I picked up a jam donut which is not my favourite but a safe choice and I would come back and get some more next time and the jam was not sharp and tasted like a strawberry and apple jam and the donut was soft and fresh!

This Lidl is the nearest to the UK head office so I imagine the quality is high. This Lidl is always busy because Morden is a typical Lidl town. As we all know Lidl is a bye word for cheap. You need to take your own plastic because Lidl only sell them, which is the correct policy in my mind. This Lidl opened its doors first as a Netto when the development which includes 2 doors down Iceland, opened about 10 years ago. It has recently expanded to include the wetherspoons pub ‘The Lady St. Helier’ and still from the moment it opens to the moment it closes there a shoppers swarming all over this store hunting a bargain, or maybe just baked beans and sausages in a tin. This store has a free car park if you are driving and if not it is opposite Morden tube and bus station. As is often stated Lidl don’t manage to do everything well, so here is a list of must trys if you havent tried and must buy if you go to Lidl. German produce is a must, so are the Thai ready meals, the sweetcorn in tins, the baked beans and baked beans with sausages. The Mozzarella balls are simply immense and a third of the price in neighbouring Sainsburys. Golden Sun, a bourbon whiskey is lovely, as is several of the wines. Selling German beers, you know that they are of fantastic quality because of the purity laws in Germany, but they have British beer brands like Stella and Carlsberg Export from time to time at low low prices. Love Lidl and love taking my shopping home in boxes.
