Our first night out in London and we hung out at the London Pub to get to know one another. There were 3 different Contiki tours departing from London the next morning so we just met for food and a pint. I ordered a cider because I planned on going to bed shortly after. The drinks are cheap. You aren’t supposed to tip the bartenders in the UK unless they serve you food so I spent under £4 for a pint of cider. That’s a little pricey considering other places outside of London charged me £2.70 for the same drink. But this was London and most things in the city are overpriced. Food was cheap and I was pretty sorry I didn’t order food after seeing plates come out of the kitchen. I did snag a few chips(fries) off of someone’s plate which were nice and crispy. The service is standard and there was plenty of seating for our various groups. My tour alone had over 50 people. The London Pub is part of the Royal National Hotel.

The spirits are high within its hollows, probably because a majority of the patrons are just beginning their holiday. Who amongst them could be in a poor mood? You would be wise to enter and let this rub off on you. :) A fine pub to grab a beer if you are staying at the Royal National Hotel or the Imperial. The seating is arranged in away that is perfect for groups, and even at its loudest, it was possible to hold a conversation. It accepts credit cards, but the minimum you need to spend equals three beers and they won’t let you run a tab. Just an annoyance. On this particular night, I was introduced to the term«Off Shore Drilling,» by an Australian named Luke. It means«hook up with girls in other tour groups, not your own,» less you want a holiday filled with drama and clinging. Those who did not heed the advice of Aussie Luke did indeed pay the price. Beer and life lessons at the London Pub. Reasonably priced ales.

Used to come here when I first moved to London and worked just round the corner. I was only vaguely aware of the hotel it was attached to. Going back after a fair few years I feel fondly about the place. It’s not the most amazing pub in London, but for a hotel bar it’s certainly not bad and it’s kind of unique in it’s size and it’s feel. I couldn’t help but see it as something of a cross between an English pub and an American sports bar(it’s very spacious and has a fair few TVs dotted around). Such a bar, especially given its location in a hotel, could serve as a halfway house for American tourists, allowing them to get acclimatized to the English pub in vaguely familiar surroundings. They will not get used to London prices here however as it’s actually cheaper than your average bar!

This was the first pub I ever went to in London, and not only that, it was one of my first stops when I arrived in London for a week-long spring break program with my university in March 2008. The food is very well priced, staff is very friendly(and very patient and helpful as I was still figuring out British currency – come on, I had been there only a few hours!), the portions are very reasonable, and I liked how they let you pick your own seats, have you pay at the counter, and then bring the food over to where you are sitting. I went with 5 other friends and most of us got fish and chips – that was, in addition, the first time I ever ate REAL fish and chips!

This is a pretty standard pub that you’d find attached to a low budget hotel. It seems to attract mainly hotel clientelle and other visitors who aren’t aware of the other pubs and bars in the area. Atmosphere is pretty lacking there are a number of fruit machines and big screen tv’s, attracting crowds while football matches are showing. It has a rather dingey selection of tables and chairs and an outside area backing on to a coach park. Drinks are varied but nothing special, a pint is reasonable but you won’t find any of the speciality or foreign beers on offer in other pubs in the area. Another thing — the food the air in this place smells of chips and the fried variety of dishes are what this place serves. If you’re desperate for a drink, it’s an okay place But there are so many other better options in the surrounding streets that you’d be better off finding a nicer place to have a pint!
