London Tours By Taxi

With only two full days in London, I wanted to tour the city, but did not want to spend the day getting on and off a bus with 50 other people. We opted for a private tour instead. London Tours by Taxi has many tours to choose from of varying lengths, day and night, including walking tours. We chose a full-​day tour by taxi. Prices are per cab, rather than per person, so it was great splitting the cost with another couple. Our cab was not the iconic little black taxi, but a Mercedes minicab which will seat six and has wheelchair access.
Adrian arrived promptly at our hotel at 9:30 am with umbrellas in tow should we need them. Clearly, he has an understanding that Arizonans have no concept of rain that lasts more than 5 minutes. LTT is his business and he will be your guide if you book, but he is also a fully licensed taxi driver as well. And once I witnessed London traffic, I was thankful we were not driving. I can only imagine the arguments that would have ensued.
In our 7 hours together, we had a fantastic overview of the entire city and its surrounding neighborhoods. Our hotel was remarkably close to Kensington Palace and I didn’t even know it. In addition to seeing all of the famous sites, we saw lesser known, but equally as interesting points along the way. My husband was interested in seeing some of the old Roman wall, and Adrian made sure to include that. We stopped many times throughout the day for photos and did some walking. I was impressed by Adrian’s knowledge of all things London… historically, politically, socially, culturally, you name it. Did you know the Queen cannot enter the House of Commons? I would think the Queen could go anywhere she damn well pleases, but apparently not. Our day was so filled, we did not have time to actually go into Tower of London or Westminster Abbey, etc, so plan for extra days in London to do that. We foolishly did not.
We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Adrian and found him to be quite witty as well. Very, very important in a tour guide. Otherwise, it’s like the excruciating pain of watching the History Channel. Would love to tour with him again on a future trip!
