London Victoria Station

Grim. Awful lighting. Downright dangerous at rush hour between tube station and train station.
The last of londons major terminuses (termini?) to get overhauled and boy does it need it, painfully not fit for purpose compared to other stations (oh sorry forgot Euston, Euston is worse.)

Very very very busy station, lots of people, lots of shop and can easily gotten lost (especially if you are in a hurry). I would have given it a 3 star or lower given you are bound to be lost for sure, but the strips on floor deserves a star on its own.
The key is to make sure you read the signs, and look down. Yes, look down. There are lots of colour strips on the floor which helps direct you to the main areas. They are extremely helpful! So make sure you pay attention to the floors, as much as the signs.

This place has got so so much better in recent years. There’s so many shops and places to eat! A few times this place saved me when I left it to the last minute to buy things. thanks paperchase, new look and Lola’s to name a few.
I love how they have mini pop ups from time to time. Before Christmas there was a YSL black opium and also a groupon event, with Wien tasting and a hand massage. Yeah they promote stuff, but I think it’s a nice touch.
What does annoy me though and I say this because I come every day is the tube signs. It might be just me but Im always confused how to find the tube when I get there and the staff are not really helpful when it comes to directions.
So so place, it gets you from a to b and you can eat, but it could use losing the confusing signs…

I have been to this station a few times and absolutely hate it. I come here strictly to go to Victoria Coach Station. Even getting there from the underground station is so confusing. The signs are a mess. I have never used the trains from here and will avoid to as it is so confusing. I do try to avoid coming here if I can as it is simply a mess for a train station, King’s Cross, St Pancras, Euston, London Bridge to name a few are so much better.

I like Victoria Station as it is massive and so many trains that you can get from there. Also the station is spacious and has many shops, pubs and restaurants. Also at times they have some promotional stands and special events going on. Once they had a British Airways events where you could win a holiday by playing a flight simulator type game.

Very busy train station! People walking fast in & out the station. It reminds me of our Union Station in LA. Not only for train connections but also a subway stop. Many local residents using this public transportation.
There are many retail stores and fast food/​convenient stores near by the station.

This is the definition of mess!
Signs on the floor — YES, on the floor — point to where the trains you may need are located — oh, yes, did you know that when you and thousands of other people are looking down, over and under to find things you would bump into each other?! I guess TFL didn’t know that.
I remember the 1^st time I came through here and the shock of seeing a station in this kind of chaos was traumatizing. Over a decade later, I’m still in shock.
The retail outlets make no sense and since you’re looking at the ground you might miss them anyway.
Unfortunately, the Gatwick Express operates here but otherwise, if at all possible do not stop at this station. I don’t think Queen Victoria would be impressed with this.

Victoria train station is such a large place it would not take long to get lost if you are not familiar with this station. There are a lot of shops and places to eat, even though the this station is large it feels claustrophobic.
Best to avoid at peak times.

A busy, bustling station were many train and tube services operate from, including the Gatwick Express to the airport. There are also many shops and restaurants.

Cuando llegas a Londres desde el aeropuerto de Gatwick, el Gatwick Express es la mejor manera. Algo que me gusta en esta vida son los trenes y estos en particular pasan cada cuarto de hora y en poco tiempo te plantan en el corazón de la ciudad después de un relajado trayecto mirando por la ventana parte de la campiña inglesa, o más bien, de los pueblos cercanos a la capital.
Esa ha sido y supongo que siempre será mi relación con Victoria Station: salir del Gatwick Express y entrar en el Gatwick Express. Se ha convertido así en un ritual que me hace asociar los altos techos de la estación con uno de los símbolos más característicos de Londres. El espacio en sí, no tiene mucho de particular, aunque cabe destacar la comodidad de su acceso, la puntualidad de sus trenes, el increíble tránsito de pasajeros y, por supuesto, los pequeños espacios destinados al consumo. De cualquier manera, llegué desfallecida y muerta de hambre porque el carrito de bebidas y snacks del mencionado tren había pasado a tal velocidad que no pude reaccionar para detenerlo. Luego me arrepentí y salí en su busca, pero no contaré la historia completa salvo que no acabó bien y, en consecuencia, quería comer algo al llegar a tierra firme. En la estación hay multitud de tiendas, puestos de café y, por supuesto, de bocadillos, que fue lo que elegí. Una vez allí, es recomendable, ya fuera de la estación, el darte una vuelta y comenzar con el verdadero viaje.

There are two connected London Underground stations at Victoria, on different levels and built more than a century apart. The older one, on the north side of the bus station, serves the District and Circle lines. The newer station, closer to the mainline station, serves the Victoria line, a deep-​level ‘tube’ line. Each has its own ticket hall, and the two are connected by a pedestrian passage beneath the bus station. Victoria is currently the fourth busiest station on the London Underground, after Waterloo, Oxford Circus and King’s Cross with nearly 8 million passengers a year according to TfL

No.
I only go to London if I have to and my life depends on it. It seems to be the case everytime cos I don’t like going to London and I loathe the tube. This station is super busy and it will always be.

Sometimes, I feel like London Victoria is my second home, I seem to be here so often!
All London bound trains from Brighton mainly go to Victoria, and less often London Bridge. The Gatwick express also runs from here.
There are plenty of places to shop, if you go up the escalator there is a small shopping centre with a food court.
Inside the station there are also plenty of places to get fast food from, and a Wetherspoons if you fancy a quick pint. All good with me!

It’s a train station, nothing more. It would have been more than OK if I haven’t seen much better train stations like King’s Cross/​Pancras or Waterloo, even the infamously confusing Paddington station seems to have more characters (may or may not because of Paddington bear).
It’s huge and hard to navigate, difficult to get to the tube entrance from the tracks, and there’s no exciting food/​drink options. You probably can’t avoid it if you are trying to go to Gatwick airport though.

Not bad. Pretty easy to navigate. Helpful staffed information booths. A Wetherspoons and a scattering of shops and eateries. A guy could do worse as far as train stations go.

I’ve seen it both deserted and crowded, and this station is set up in a remarkably organized manner when you consider how long it has been around and the expansion of the population. Something very refreshing about traveling in the London area is how mild mannered everyone is, which leads to an usually calm atmosphere during some of the longest queues I’ve had the displeasure of waiting in during my trip.
Southern Railway: Although there are many tourists who have difficulty operating the machines — just go to the ticket window if you intend on buying several tickets in one transaction, you won’t find anyone shouting from the line for them to hurry. There’s also a roving agent who will eventually make his/​her way around to provide assistance. Railway schedules are posted in a few different locations around the station and the platforms are clearly marked.
There are many food options all over the station, and it would be best to pick up your snacks before boarding.
The main inconvenience that I’ve witnessed is the lack of accessibility. Although I’m certain there must be lifts somewhere in the station, I haven’t seen any. Travelers with large pieces of luggage will be carrying them up and down stairs between the Metro and Railway services, slowing things down even more.

Big station. Lots of shops. Not very nice staff when you have any problem. And SO COLD during the winter. Do not try to wait for somebody there without FREEZING. I hate that.

Being a key central travel point in London, I expected a little more out of this station, however it’s acceptable as is I guess.
Acting both as a train station and a metro/​subway station as well, the Victoria Station receives tons of traffic from those traveling, commuting, and trying to visit the city. Therefore, I find it completely unacceptable, for example, that in order to access the washrooms, you have to lift your luggage down a large flight of winding stairs and then have to carry it back up (especially when travelling with large suitcases). If you have to have bathrooms on a lower level, AT LEAST have escalators or an elevator for those with luggage or strollers.
Also, despite having several places to grab a bite from, the station lacks seating. Maybe this is done on purpose, but a train or bus station should accommodate for those who want to sit and eat quickly or those waiting for someone to arrive on a train.
Apart from these points, the station is just fine… Totally crowded as expected but easy to navigate through with many large signs pointing you in the right direction and several info desks to go to for help.
Overall, A-​OK :)

I love the station simply because everything is there. I never have to wonder about if I can find coffee or if there is a boots nearby or Pret for example.
Everything I need is going to be at London Victoria station. With the Victoria shops now open, it makes for is your place to pick up Essentials as well.
It can be somewhat crowded because it is where national rail Connects and service lines can be extremely long.. .
But To me it’s awesome!

I arrived into Victoria Station at 6AM from Cardiff, Wales. This was the very first time I set foot into London and the start of the last leg of my British Isles journey – I had to check in on Unilocal.It wasn’t the most beautiful train station I’ve been to but it was efficient and very London-​y.
This was the same station I would have to be at, 8AM the same morning, to embark on a day-​trip to Stonehenge. It gets crowded but people were helpful in pointing out where to go and it wasn’t a confusing place to be.
Great London transit station!

Zentraler Bahnhof und Schauplatz diverser Englischbuch-​Lektionen früher.
Positiv aufgefallen ist mir — und das nicht nur hier — daß die British Railway ganz schön aufgerüstet hat! Von dem Nachkriegsambiente ist zumindest in den großen Bahnhöfen nichts mehr zu spüren!

Die Victoria Stadion im Herzen Londons ist einfach riesig.
Hier treffen sich Underground, Bahn, Metro Busse und Coaches.
Mehrer Fastfood Restaurants, Cafes & Shops sorgen fürs leibliche wohl.
Sehr praktisch sind verschieden farbige Linien mit Bezeichnung wie z.B. «WC» oder «Tickets» am Boden quer durch die Stadion denen man dan neinfach folgen kann.
Verlässt man die Stadion gelangt man leicht auch zu Fuss, direkt in die City, z.B. zum Big Ben oder Buckingham Palast.

Einer der schönsten Bahnhöfe der Welt!

Victoria Station ist nach Königin Victoria benannt und ist einer der großen Bahnhöfe in London. Die Züge von Victoria Station fahren nach Kent, Surrey, Sussex und nach Brighton. Der Gatwick-​Express verbindet Central London mit dem Flughafen London-​Gatwick. Man fährt etwa eine halbe Stunde. Die Circle, District und Victoria Linien halten in der U-​Bahn-​Station Victoria. Vor 40 Jahren kam ich von Dover kommend zum erstenmal in Victoria Station an. Der erste Eindruck war überwältigend.
