As of the writing of this review, this is where I work. Given that it’s not a place you can walk into, I’m not surprised that there are no reviews yet for this place.
It’s a medical research center. It’s funded by the Medical Research Council and the majority of the work here is toward medical and disease related research. There are groups working on cancer, malaria and virology.
It’s a pretty good place to work, but the cafeteria is a bit of a letdown.
The reason why most people may recognize the building is because the building was used in the film «Batman Begins» as the Arkham Asylum building.
The whole NIMR will be joining the new Francis Crick Institute being built behind the British Library, so in 2015 this building will be deserted. Hopefully some sort of new use will be found (as long as it’s not an asylum, that might just be a bit too weird…)
