Best meal we had in London. We loved this place! Met a friend here for dinner one night and everything from the drinks to the appetizers, entrees, to the dessert were all so very delicious. We started with the ebony wings: good flavor, not spicy for us. So good we wanted more. Then we ordered the jerk pork and the curry goat. The curry goat was so tasty and I usually don’t order curry, since it’s not generally my fave. This entrée however was well balanced, not overpowering. I’m writing this review and craving it now. Then came dessert: sticky toffee pudding. It comes warm as with ice cream. I was sad I had to share :) it was just that yummy. Service was great – we had a reservation so we were seated once we arrived. Our waitress was helpful and quick. If you’re looking for a nice place to enjoy some Caribbean flavors, I recommend Mango Room without hesitation.

It’s not the traditional Carribean food you’d get at your Grandmothers or in Brixton, but it was amazing none the less! The curry goat was stunning and generous. Remember to order some roti in addition to truly get a bit of Carribean flare. I was highly impressed by the Mango Room. Goat is a notoriously difficult meat to prepare, but the chef produced a tender perfectly cooked plate that I overindulged in. Give this place a try, especially if it’s date night. I’ll definitely be back.

Decent Jamaican cuisine(jerk chicken could use work, though). I’ve never had only white meat jerk chicken, but maybe they are from a special part of Jamaica. I don’t know. Also I wouldn’t go here for the service as they forgot my main course. And then, argued with me saying I never ordered it… pretty cheeky. They made up for it by bringing it with the check.

Great Caribbean restaurant in Camden. Friendly service and excellent food. A good start for the pub crawl in one of London’s best go out– areas.

— nice restaurant in Camden — reservation recommended — were the first guests for the evening and still the table cloth was very dirty — service was kind — dishes were served very quickly; food was really good; Caribbean Coffee recommended — cocktail: rum punch(6.50) — starter: king prawns with chutney(6.50) — main course: chicken breast with vegetables(11.00) and seafood platter(14.90) — dessert: flambeed bananas(5.50) and caribbean coffee(5.50) Conclusion: food quality was very good, price okay, in my opinion the restaurant is not really homely

Yearning for Caribbean food with a little(maybe a lot of) pretension? Then Mango Room is the place for you. It is in Camden, just across from the tube station. It is a little surprising that a little pricey Caribbean place would be found just off the high-street, but there it is. The décor is classy. There are paintings from all over the world which are interesting and creative(not that I know anything about art). The lighting is dim and the candles are used to give it a romantic vibe. It isn’t a chit-chat, get drunk with your friends before a night out kind of place. It’s more of a quiet, romantic 4th-date place. You will see lots of couples looking deeply into each other’s eyes, sipping wine and eating friend plantain — what I had to start. The plantain was standard — good. It doesn’t take a lot of effort to fry plantain so if you want something simple and delicious then go for it. It will fill you up which is not a bad thing because the portion sizes are on the smaller side. For my main meal, I had the baby spinach, okra and coconut risotto. The spinach was a little over cooked, the Okra a little under cooked(I am still unsure as to how that happened) and the risotto was had a mushy-esque quality. Not good. The coconut did not compliment the okra at all so the flavors clashed quite a bit. My date had the goat curry, which again was on the smaller side so starters are a good idea, but it was MUCH better than the risotto. It is flavorful, not too spicy(although you can ask them to make it hotter) and reflective of good ol’ Caribbean cuisine. So, if you are looking for a romantic date place in Camden where it is a little on the calm and quiet side then this is the place for you. I would steer clear of anything exotic(i.e. the coconut risotto) and stick with the standard things. Happy eating!

Good starter, decent main, exceptionally poor dessert and service.

ehhhhhhh. I ordered 2 things. They were tiny. One of these things was steamed vegetables so I could share with my baby, but they were damn near raw and she just gnawed on them and spit it out. My thoughts exactly, child. Otherwise…it was quiet and the service was fine.

I quite like the Mango room. I came here Sunday evening for dinner and was pleased to find that it wasn’t too crowded. I started off with a Jamaican mule which was strong but tasty. I had the pumpkin soup as a starter. It was quite delish. I then had the special which was baked salmon with a curry sauce, mashed sweet and regular potatoes along with steamed vegetables. It was quite amazing! The price was ok. £60 for two three course meals with a 12.5% gratuity isn’t too bad. The service was a bit slow but our server was very nice and there was quite a large group in the other room. Overall, I’d come back again to satisfy any craving that I have for Caribbean food.

Been here a few times, mainly with a few friends. One of the finest Caribbean cuisine around. The mango room also has one of the colourful yet classy look to it. it has vibrant and lovely lighting, the only down side to it was because its so good it can be packed at some times. but dont let that put you of going there to have a great time, just get there earlier and you are sure to have a fantastic evening. The price is very resonable. for £50 you are sure to have a great evening for two.

Mango Room is a surprisingly nice place that offers delicious food and actually good and nice service. I read some reviews here and was not sure what to expect. But when I was there, I was very happy with both, my grilled goats cheese as a starter and my chicken with coconut curry sauce and roti bread as a main. I also enjoyed my kind of fruity white wine. Finally the warm chocolate with cocos cake as dessert also tasted delicious. The only disappointing thing was the normal bread. This just tasted like a toast without being toasted. As someone who really likes good bread, this was definitely the weak point of this otherwise great meal. It is however not the cheapest restaurant, but also not too expensive. I can definitely recommend this place. The selection of wines looked really good, and I might also go there again just to try the cocktails …

Sloppily served, over-priced, Westernised Caribbean food — we were treated very shabbily as a large(pre-booked) party(our ward’s treat to ourselves after a hard year tending the mentally ill of Camden!!) and generally treated as though we were cash cows who would stump up for every extra(ie the things that you’d expect you’d automatically get in a restaurant charging these prices). Food was bleh — I’ve had more exciting stuff from one of those jerk shops in Brixton.

Love this place. Nice vibes, friendly and efficient staff, excellent food. Good vegetarian options and heavenly desserts — the warm chocolate and coconut cake is recommended :) Great cocktail menu too. Not quite a budget option(starters £5−7, main dishes £11−15) but well worth it. We left with happy warm feelings.

Really delicious food, well presented and quite different from the normal Camden experience. I love the atmosphere, although it can be a bit chaotic as they can be quite busy. I, however, am willing to tolerate it and wait since the food and atmosphere are so lovely.(The vegetarian dishes are also REALLYGOOD)

Went as a member of a party for dinner. They have a side room for this. They coped well with 20 people, and the waiting staff were first class. They brought the correct dishes to each diner without needing to ask. The food was attractively presented, nicely cooked and had an excellent flavour. There is definitely a great team in the kitchen. A reasonably long menu with plenty of options for starters, mains & deserts so you will find something you want even if you don’t feel that keen on the(very good indeed) Goat. The wine list is also carefully chosen & you should find good drinking. A really professional place that was a pleasure to go to.

Went last Sunday and had a wonderful meal with friends. The rum punch is fantastic at the cocktail bar when you go in, and then continuing through to the warm and elegant eating rooms in this central Camden Caribbean restaurant. If you’re used to eating Caribbean food you may find the prices a bit high compared to take away places but the prices of £5−6 were reasonable for delicious starters. I really recommend the Ackee and Saltfish but the Saltfish fritters and Duck and Apple Skewer were also tasty and well-cooked. Mains were Char Grilled Chicken with a beautifully piquant Jerk sauce– a nice take on Barbeque Jerk Chicken and a great platter of Sea Bass, Jumbo shrimp(amazingly tasty and succulent!) and a spinach, okra and coconut risotto that went down amazingly well with an Italian friend(so well I didn’t get to taste it!). Service was professional and attentive and there was a great atmosphere of people enjoying the atmosphere and the food. Well worth a visit.

Came here on a Sunday evening. It was not crowded at all. The place is airy, but the restaurant has two dining areas. Started with a caipirinha, and it was refreshing. Had the tuna for dinner. Nothing bad but nothing to rave about as well. Got the Jamaican run flambeed bananas for dessert. Interesting attempt but again, nothing extraordinary. Overall, good service, different type of cuisine, decent food. But I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat there.

I was brought here by a friend who wanted to treat me for my birthday. It was the first time I’d tried Caribbean food and oh-my-god! It’s amazing! The service was absolutely fabulous, with a very friendly waiter who recommended the perfect wine, and helped us understand what all the odd words on the menu were. Also, at £10 to £14 for a main course, this place won’t break the bank! 3 of us had dinner, 3 courses each with a bottle of wine to share, and it came down to about £35 each! For London, this is one very good deal! Do bear in mind that the portions were not huge, so american-style eaters should consider that. They were, however incredibly delicious! I can’t wait to go back and have some super delicious food!

One of my fave restaurants in London. I’ve had a few birthday meals here and my friends have always been pleased with my choice of venue. If you like caribbean food, you’ll love it. And if you’ve never had it, try it here. Start with a good rum-based cocktail I can recommend the Planter’s Punch. All the fish dishes are great and done in your choice of sauce red snapper in peppercorn sauce is very tasty. There are a good selection of side dishes such as rice & peas and sweet potato fries. Leave a bit of room for dessert the mango and banana crème brûlée is definitely worth it. It’s very handy for the tube a few yards from Camden tube station, just along Kentish Town Road. So even friends from West London have ventured this far for a taste of the Caribbean.
