Exercises span from the physically vigorous to the meditative. Classes for beginners and more experienced students are available. We pride ourselves in the quality of our teaching, and in the warm, friendly, unpretentious atmosphere of our classes. Our beginners classes focus on: * developing relaxation; * harmonising breathing and movement; * increasing suppleness; * energising the body; * building core strength; * developing coordination and physical skill; * building confidence, calmness, disipline and mental balance for life.

History

Established in 2010.

Our Hackney Central Branch, established in 2010, is part of the Mei Quan Academy of Tai Chi, which was founded in 1990. Mei Quan has grown to have around 30 branches across London, run by a group of experienced and highly trained teachers, and is one of the largest tai chi organisations in the city. The Hackney Central Branch is run by Luke White and Andy Terrington, who have both been practicing tai chi within the Academy since around 2001. Prior to opening the branch here, we have been through Mei Quan’s rigorous teacher-training programme, and taught and assisted at a number of branches in the school.
