Have recently moved to the area and was looking for a great, reliable salon. I saw Jose and thought he was excellent — super friendly, he listened to what I was after, was honest and importantly, good at his job. I walked out loving my cut and colour and will be heading back. It was a bit pricey but I know this salon in particular has graduate and junior stylists which are more affordable. Overall a really good experience. If you’re looking for a great haircut, I can definitely recommend.

Truthfully, I’m a little disappointed in my experience here, and I’m conflicted in how I should rate this salon. I found it «A-OK» and am following Unilocal’s suggested star rating of 3 stars… but perhaps my experience was more like 3.5 stars. I originally called the East Dulwich location to find a Graduate level haircut, which is the cheaper haircut tier at £45. Graduate level cuts are only served at the Brixton location, so I happily booked an appointment for Brixton and made my way over. The salon is relatively small in size, but had plenty of hair cutting stations and a small bench as the waiting area. I first started speaking to a stylist, and I had a gut feeling that I needed to clarify that I should specify that my appointment was with a graduate stylist. Turns out, the stylist was actually waiting for a different person to come in and I was switched to a different stylist. This didn’t bother me, as I realise that it is confusing that a different salon location had booked me for the Brixton location. The next time I want a graduate level stylist, I’ll be sure to call Brixton directly instead. I’m giving this salon overall 3 – 3.5 stars because I’m a bit underwhelmed by the level of personality, enthusiasm and friendliness of the staff. I didn’t feel particularly welcomed in this salon and I don’t feel like my stylist was expected to cut my hair. I spoke to her a little bit, and she mentioned how she had over 6 years experience with the company, and this makes me feel that she was probably not actually a Graduate level stylist, and perhaps was less enthused to cut my hair for some reason. It makes me wonder if she would make less money from me as a client as she is probably more qualified to charge the higher price point. Which is fair enough if that was the case, but it certainly didn’t make me feel welcomed. I’m very torn in my rating because the woman did an excellent job cutting and styling my hair. She was very quick, having my hair washed, cut and styled in 45 – 50 minutes, the fastest haircut I’ve ever had. The haircut is exactly what I wanted and she was helpful in explaining what kinds of products would help me style my hair at home. So overall, the haircuts and products here are great and I would recommend this salon if that’s all you’re looking for! But if Myla & Davis want repeat business from me, I think a more positive attitude and friendliness with their services would go a long way.
