Best pasta I’ve ever had in London! I was looking for a good restaurant where I can have good pasta like the ones we can have in Italy. But I ended up having tasteless, too soft pastas… This Olivo has changed my impression of no good pasta in London! Looks like Sardina part of Italy featured restaurant, the 2 different pastas we had were both very tasty! Also Sardinian ham on melon is must have for starter! I think I will repeat going to this restaurant when I’m craving for good pastas.

Have been there twice, both times passing through London. Enjoyed the food very much both times, I think I got the same thing, a fish-roe-flavoured pasta dish called Pasta Bottarga. All of us enjoyed our meals and the wine, which is a nice selection. So why 3 stars? Management style is not so good. We called and reserved for 6pm, he said OK, but you need to vacate the table by 8pm. OK, no problem. When we went in the restaurant was empty except for us yet they gave us a table for 4 with our party being 5 people. When I asked for a 6-table they went confrontational and refused. So we sat down and nevertheless enjoyed our dinner. By the time we finished and left ay 8pm there were still only 3 other parties in the restaurant. Additionally, one of my co-diners, a local Londoner, asked for some ketchup with his roast potatoes, which they refused. I mean… this the 21st Century now, time to stop being pretentious about food.

I really enjoyed this place. I got the pasta with sausage, nice and al dente. Good breads, too. Delicious food, convenient location.

Ordered: Sea Urchin Pasta, Cod Roe Pasta, Zucchini deep fried chips, Tiramisu, Crab Pasta. Price: About £15 for the pasta, and Tiramisu £5, and in total: about £40 per head for a healthy size. Review: My father found this gem in Belgravia(well on the borders)…ok victoria/pimlico…anyway…the food… is divine. If you are looking for that quaint, family style sicilian esque place… you’ve found the deal. My FAVOURITE pasta is the cod roe pasta — I don’t remember the name as I remember it in Japanese(as there is a similar one in Japan) but my goodness, if you like seafood and pasta, you know where to go!

Call ahead, you will need a reservation, and it’s for the usual reasons. Excellent food and good service. Fair prices, small simple place tucked away like all the good ones in London.

I loved everything about Olivo(except for one thing, but I’ll get to that later). Relaxed environment. Just enough of a murmur to let me know that all of the patrons were enjoying themselves without disturbing my meal. Great service. Fantastic starters(the mozarella special and the baby squid were incredibly rich and flavorful). The desserts were unbelievable. I’ve never had better panna cotta and the chocolate tart was perfect. I had such an enjoyable time that I hate to even bring up the only semi-disappointing part of the meal, but I must. The mains were a little bland. Maybe it’s just my unsophisticated American palate, but the veal and the risotto were good, but not memorable. Any other place would have been knocked down to three stars, but because everything else was so exceptional, the fourth star remains. I’ll definitely be back to try additional mains and am hoping to come back to my review and give Olivo its fifth star.

Olivo is a treat for me. It’s a down to earth upmarket restaurant that specialises in wonderful Sardinian food with excellent pasta dishes. I had a beef fillet with juniper berries and opted for the famed chocolate and almond tart for dessert which is rich and totally satisfying. As I am writing this I am salivating. The interior is understated but that’s what makes it the rustic place that it is. Our Italian speaking waiter was helpful with recommendations. I would like to make this my local but I have a way to go as it is pricey.

This restaurant has been around for ages and has lost a bit of its buzz. It is still serving good food(my tagliatta was excellent) but the atmosphere is a bit dull. I went there for a business dinner and were more looking for the right location than the best italian restaurant, that evening we had a few tourists from the hotels around and some quiet retired couples probably from Belgravia. It’s an OK local place if you live around but an expensive one. Plus if you are at the back you may be next to the toilet door… so ask to be at the front, much nicer view!
