This is a nice little Oxfam book shop in leafy Highgate. But for me it’s overpriced. On the good side the staff were friendly and they seemed to have a nice selection, including a smattering of first editions and rarities. But it is small compared with other branches I’ve been in. Also the prices seemed too high. A few examples, I saw a comic(unknown soldier, vol. 1) for £7, it’s currently £7.50 new from Amazon, or 93p used. Zadie Smith’s NW was £3.50. I understand that it is for charity but they’re selling used items and the prices should reflect that. So just don’t expect to get a bargain I guess, which is how I prefer my charity shopping.

This is a brilliant branch of Oxfam. Id normally try to support them by buying items from them anyway, and donating unwanted stuff to them. but using this particular shop is a real joy all the same. The staff are helpful, and if they see me and know theres a particular type of item im after they will let me know that theres more they can bring in from out the back. they have also nbeen known to take my number and give me a ring if particular books and pamphlets come in. The stock in the store iss brilliant, particularly the book section and the music and fim area, which covers dvds and cds at very reasonable prices — no more than £2.99 normally and often as low as 99p. Highly recommended. Check out their fair trade items too — i particularly like their hot chocolate and chocolates/sweets which are fairly priced i think.
