Paddington London Underground Station

Not sure what to say about this place. I usually come in on the Heathrow Express and connect to a taxi here. The station is well organized with good signage for arriving and departing trains. There is a taxi stand for getting a taxi quickly or for ease of dropping off. There are lines on the floor to assist you to getting to your correct location quickly and easily. Overall the station is clean, well lit, and has snacks.

Paddington Bear! I recall as a child watching him on KQED or one of those educational channels. I always wondered wear that Paddington Bear originated from.
So it was just a bonus while in London to pass through the Paddington Station! I got my photo with the Paddington bear statue and of course the Paddington underground signs.
This station has a lot going on. It seems to be one of the more major stations in London, but coming in through the entrance on Praed by the Garfunkel’s made me think otherwise at first. I thought, «This is Paddington Station?» But of course, as soon as you go underground, make a few turns here and there you see what you had expected to see.
I don’t know what else to say about Paddington. If you can pass through here why not? Visit the bear, check out the Paddington Bear store, and see the craziness of all the people going in and out of the station.
Make sure you take a photo with the Paddington bear statue. If you grew up watching/​reading Paddington bear, this station will be more significant during your trip to London

So the name for this listing is a little misleading. Paddington isn’t just a Tube stop (i.e. a stop for London’s underground trains) — it’s also a railway station. That means that there is a LOT of foot traffic here, as the Tube, but high-​speed trains, and several shuttles that run between Heathrow Airport and similar locations all stop at Paddington. And with so many types of trains running in and out, Paddington as a whole is quite a massive complex to navigate.
Not that navigating it is particularly difficult; the exits to the Tube are clearly marked, as are the platforms. (A lot of the time if you look down you’ll find clear color markers guiding you to different parts of the station and its many exits, too.) There are information boards everywhere, as well as ticket kiosks for many travelers who pass through here to use for last minute purchases or to pick up online orders. And of course, if you are having a bit of trouble finding exactly what you need, there are staff available to help. As a result I really enjoyed riding in and out of Paddington. It’s quite the bustling station!
If you do travel through Paddington during a visit to the city like I did, the most important thing to remember is to arrive early. The trains in Britain are extremely prompt, and you want to be on the train before they shut the doors and prepare to leave. And since Paddington is particularly large due to the number of train platforms it contains, even simply walking to a coffee shop to grab a pick-​me-​up after you arrive may take a while, since the shops are all placed alongside the walls. So seriously, give yourself time to get on your train and do anything else you may need to do at Paddington (pick up tickets, look for Paddington’s statue, etc.), ESPECIALLY if you’re bringing luggage with you like my family!

Trains are almost always on time and run efficiently. They charge for the toilets though, which can be a bit inconvenient.

This station is a little better in that it’s a direct walk-​on from the underground — with Bakerloo being the best connected. The overhead signage is very good and although there aren’t many amenities, which I could care less about — it is easy to find your arriving/​departing train.
Staff seemed helpful, although I did not need to utilise any assistance. Plenty of ticket machines & easy to use the collection option.

Seriously guys, signage! I’ve never been in such a poorly articulated station as this. Finally work out your platform, only to find there’s no signs telling you where it is. Cue lots of walking about like a kid on the first day at school, looking for a friend…
If it wasn’t for the bear, you’d have just got the 1 star!

Paddington is served by four London Underground lines through two separate stations: the Bakerloo, Circle and District lines have a combined sub-​surface and deep-​level station to the south of the main line station, and the Hammersmith & City and Circle lines have a sub-​surface station to the north. Circle line services go through both of the sub-​surface stations as part of a spiral route. Although shown on the London Underground map as a single station the two sub-​surface parts are not directly linked.
Although Paddington is not served by the Central line, the short walk to Lancaster Gate tube station is taken by many commuters heading for the West End or the City, as it can be quicker than alternative routes

We arrived here via the Heathrow Express, our very first day in London. We had no clue as to what to expect once the train arrived, but we knew that we would need a taxi to get to our airport.
The train itself was fast and easy — I don’t know why people would opt for a taxi or car service when the train is always there!
Once we got to Paddington, we gathered all our luggage and tried to figure out the signage. It was super easy to understand, and it was made even easier by the color-​coded lines on the ground. We found the line for «Taxis» and followed that from the tracks to the front of the station, and got ourselves a black cab for the short trip to the hotel.
We did come back through Paddington Station late one night, while I was on the hunt for the bear. How could I not visit THE BEAR? His statue is easy to find, if you’re familiar with the stories. Situated right below the clock on platform 1 — right where the Brown family first found him — is the cutest little statue you’d ever want to see! I promptly went to town taking a ton of pictures of and with him, and left feeling a little silly but immensely pleased that I had spent some time with him.
Such a cute little bear. Such a great little station!

If Paddington Bear arrived today, he wouldn’t know where to turn … but at least he’d be able to leave his luggage at an overpriced storage shop (high security measures and high prices). Long gone are the days when you could check in your bags in the morning and take the Heathrow Express after work — civilised travelling.
Admittedly the station looks a lot nicer since it received a makeover a few years ago, but the distance between the tube lines has only increased — whatever you do, try not to interchange between the Hammersmith&City branch of the Circle Line with the Circle&District Line. If you follow the arrows on the ground they will take you along the side of the entire station, past the taxi ranks and down a couple of escalators.
There is actually a cheaper choice and only slightly longer journey time to travel from Paddington to Heathrow but unless you are confident at train timetables, it’s best not to risk it when in a hurry. The platform for Heathrow Connect is hidden down the side and unlike its overpriced competitor does not have helpful staff waiting on the platform.
Advice from the ticket office can also be hit and miss. I have been sold timed tickets when an open ticket would have been a much wiser option (at the same price) and ended up paying a fee for choosing another train on the day of travel. I’l spare you the rant … Mind you, I was impressed with the advice I received from the general information kiosk right bang in the middle of the station — good advice given with a smile.
There are also loads of shops and cafes to while your waiting time away, but I wouldn’t recommend making a special journey.

I’ve stated this about London WaterLoo too.
No better place to see what a civil group of people are in London than a train station. Paddington is one of two quick trains to/​from Heathrow airport. The station is clean and easy to navigate.

Huge train station I always find myself transferring or crossing through. Tons of vendors and shops, pretty timely train services and helpful staff.
Easy connection to the tube, Heathrow airport and wherever else you want you go.

A fun and totally bewildering place, at least to me the first and second and third and fourth times I went through. I found it amazing and delightful to get off the plane and onto the express train into Paddington, and easy to get back. This allowed me to enjoy 12 hours running around London on a stopover, and let me spend sweet moments smiling spinning slowly taking in the lofty sunlit station in all its staggered anachronisms. And picturing the bear there.
You have to pay to use the bathrooms, which weirded me out completely, and I honestly couldn’t figure out how to to buy an oyster card using the machines. These would typically be fairly sizable complaints for me and dock more stars but I loved the building and I loved London and I am biased and delighted and I don’t care. Stars! Stars for everyone!

This is one of the largest train station I visited but there is so many people that can help the lost visitor. All staff are trained to help so you never need to worry about asking the wrong person.

Around the station you can find all manner of different foods at normal price’s.

This station is large. I was a little disoriented my first time here. Its like getting off an airplane at a new airport. It is very easy to get around into London from here by bus, tube, or cab. There are many food options here. There is plenty to do while waiting for your train.

Ive positioned myself a couple times now to stay in proximity of the station and it’s worked out well. First Great Wester National rail, Heathrow Express, Heathrow Connect, taxis are just some of the few methods Ive gone in and out of here. Big, fairly well run, and convenient to get to many parts of town and the UK in general. The only time it was a bit crazy was when the Tube strike happened a while back causing the queues for things to be crazy. Otherwise maybe the most important transport hub to me in London proper.

How long will it take for you to find the Paddington Bear statue? That was literally my reason for trekking to this station to find the statue that gives homage to the Bond’s lovely fictional character, Paddington Bear. There was a cute little mobile Paddington souvenir stand next to to the station so you can get your fix on umbrellas, stuffed toys, stickers, pencils, back packs, etc. :D

Der Bahnhof Paddington ist mir seit meiner Jugend ein Begriff. durch den Krimi von Agatha Christie, -:))))
In diesen Bahnhof findet man, wie überall, alle möglichen Locations, Essen und Trinken in erster Linie natürlich. Preislich nicht günstig, aber London ist generell sehr teuer.
Sonst ist eigentlich nix besonderes zu erwähnen…

OOOoo HELLO Paddington Station!
I have yet to need to travel to and from Paddington Station. The only reason I was here was because I got lazy and convinced my friends to take the Heathrow Express to meet me instead of me having to go to the airport to pick them up. I was concerned with the size of the station, I’d for sure have trouble finding one friend out of the hundreds who will arrive with suitcases. Heathrow Express arrives at two specific platforms (6 and 7), so you can just stand between the two and await the arrival of your loved ones.
What I love about this station is that they have direction arrows on the ground pointing me to where to go for the two separate Underground stations.
The only thing is, it lacks notable landmarks as meeting points. Other than that, it’s fairly simple, that’s why I like it!

Paddington Station comprises Paddington National Rail Services and the London Underground. It also includes a ton of busses stopping outside that take you to various parts of London. Oh, and there are a few food options as well.
As for National Rail Services, hop on board to Oxford and beyond. Heathrow Express is also located here.
For the London Underground, you will find the Bakerloo, Hammersmith and City, Circle, and District lines. It’s confusing as multiple parts of the latter three are spread out all over the station. Read the signs before you start walking as you may wind up in the wrong section of the station.
The Lawn is the area where there are food options. There is a small M & S and a small Sainsburys. There is a Starbucks by Hilton Paddington entrance. In the Lawn, Paddington Bear is located!

Legendäre riesengrosse Station mit Bahnhof und Underground. Von hier kommt man überall hin!

Tja, Toasts are made aber Paddington ist eben der Knotenpunkt der westgehenden Verkehre aus der Londoner Stadt heraus und ist so eine typisch-​hektische Mischung aus U-​Bahnhof und Fernverkehrsbahnhof. Leute hasten umher, jeder hat ein Ziel, aber hoffentlich keiner mein Ziel. Da im Westen auch Heathrow liegt ist Paddington neben der Tubestation und dem Fernverkehr auch Heathrow Express-​Station mit der kein Interlining möglich ist. Hätte gerne mehr Zeit gehabt mich mit den Fressständen oder den Bierbuden auseinanderzusetzen, aber dafür reichte es nicht hier sind ja auch irgendwie alle hektisch.

Paddington Underground is one of those confusing bits of station where it services a ton of different lines, but none of them are close together. And I mean that. If you’re going to walk from the Bakerloo Line to the Hammersmith and City Line, they’re so far apart that you’re actually better off just walking to Edgewear Road and skipping a stop on your journey (if you’re headed that way.)
Still, the Bakerloo line is still one of the most consistent ones I’ve seen and it runs on time from here almost always. District and Circle seem to never ever come and H&C it somewhere in between.
The Dictrict and Circle are also on outdoor platforms, which means if it’s cold and you’re waiting forever for them, then it really sucks.
Be warned! During rush hour, trying to enter the Bakerloo stop, they change it so there are three exits and only two entrances. This means trying to get into the station is a clustermess of no fun.
Overall though, it’s solid and it gets me to where I need to go.

Kuppel über der Halle aus dem Jahr 1854.

Isambard Kingdom Brunel sitzt majestätisch auf der Bahnhofshalle.

oberirdische Kopfbahnhof, der offiziell als London Paddington bezeichnet
wird, verfügt über 14 Gleise. Die oberirdische Station der Hammersmith & City Line befindet sich auf
der Nordseite des Bahnhofs parallel zur Haupthalle, die Station der Circle Line
und der District Line vor der Südseite und die Station der Bakerloo Line tief
im Untergrund.

Der Bahnhof von Paddington Bär!!! Eigentlich ist alles gesagt, aber hier noch ein update:
der Taxistand ist umgezogen. jetzt richtung gleis 12 und dort die rolltreppe zum komplett neugestalteten (olympia laesst gruessen) nehmen. super organisiert und mega schnelle abwicklung. alle achtung!!!

Paddington Station ist einer der großen Londoner Bahnhöfe und liegt etwas nördlich vom Hyde Park. Vom Airport London Heathrow fährt man mit dem Heathrow Express in nur etwa 15 Minuten nach Paddington Station. Das ist schneller als jedes andere Verkehrsmittel. Ein Taxi benötigt je nach Verkehr etwa eine Stunde.
Der Bahnhof befindet sich hinter der Fassade des ehemaligen Great Western Hotels (heute Hilton London Padington), die von der Praed Street her gesehen sehr imposant aussieht. Die Bahnhofshalle des Kopfbahnhofs mit 14 Gleisen und dem gläsernen Dach ist eine Wucht. Von Paddington aus fahren Züge unter anderem nach Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Oxford und Reading.
Ich steige hier öfters im Hilton Paddington Hotel ab. Von der Exectutive Lounge des Hiltons hat man einen schönen Blick in den Bahnhof. Ich kann dort stundenlang bei Kaffee und Kuchen am Fenster sitzen und das Menschengewimmele in der Bahnhofshalle beobachten. Man sieht zu den Stoßzeiten Ströme von Werktätigen zu ihren Arbeitsplätzen oder nach Hause eilen und man kann die schrillsten Vögel und die heißeste Mode von London beobachten.
Unter dem Bahnhof liegen die U-​Bahnstationen Paddington der Circle Line, District Line, Hammersmith & City Line und Bakerloo Line und man erreicht mit diesen Linien sehr schnell fast jeden Punkt in London.
Cynthia Lennon ging seinerzeit hier im Gedränge verloren, als die Beatles von Paddington aus zum Maharishi nach Bangor fuhren. Das war ein böses Omen für John’s Ehe. Statuen der englischen Kinderbuchfigur Paddington Bear verzieren den Bahnhof und Agatha Christie’s Roman 16 Uhr 50 ab Paddington und die spannende Verfilmung beginnt genau hier.

Also ich musste als ich zum ersten mal hier war nicht an Agatha Christie denken, sondern an den Paddington Bear! :)
Ob die Beschilderung nun so gut war weiß ich gar nicht mehr. Ich habe eine Weilchen gebraucht um zur U-​Bahn zu finden, aber das könnte auch an mir gelegen haben. Aber immerhin bin ich auf dem Weg dorthin auch an Snacks und einem Geldautomaten vorbei gekommen.
Das dort ein ziemliches Gewusel kommt kann ich aber bestätigen, da kommt man aus Hamburg und fühlt sich doch wie so ein richtiges Landei.

Da herrscht vielleicht ein Gewusel, meine Güte. Für uns Deutsche vielleicht beeindruckend, wie die Engländer es schaffen, in diesem riesigen Bahnhof alles so auszuschildern, dass man ohne weiteres da hin kommt, wo man auch wirklich hin wollte.
Zur Architektur und zum Krimibezug wurde von Dominique schon alles nötige gesagt. Klar ist man als Agatha Christie Fan gespannt auf Paddington, aber da wird man auf alle Fälle nicht fündig.

J ai utilisé cette gare 4 ou 5 fois pour me rendre plus a l ouest de Londres et je dois avouer que c est une gare vraiment sympa. Tout est bien indique et il y a de quoi s’occuper si vous avez du temps avant de prende votre train ou qu il est en retard (ce qui arrive souvent avec les trains anglais!!).

Ich kann dieser Station leider nichts abgewinnen.
Das mag auch daran liegen, das ich hier bislang immer nur dienstlich war und
— locker 1 Stunde auf ein Taxi warten musste
— es immer laut und hektisch ist
— es stinkt
Aber ich liebe 16 Uhr 50 ab Paddington und Margret Rutherford ist die Beste (für Beides gibt es 2 Sterne)
