Steak and Guinness pie hit the spot. Lovely crust and good sauce inside with a good amount of meat pieces. Though it’s not as good as Piebiury Corner if compared.

This is a pop-up shop, meaning, it’s here for a very short time, a kind of trial period. So, don’t expect grand ambiance. I read they were planning on shutting their doors in November 2013, but were doing so well that they’ve decided to hang around for a little while longer. We stumbled upon this place in May after a long day of shopping and walking. It’s cheap, fun, and low-key. They have a small menu, but we were a little confused at first. So, learn from us… 1) Order the classic pie of your choice(e.g. Heidi, Moo, Chicken of Aragon, etc) 2) Decide how you want it(e.g. Just w/gravy, or gravy w/1 or 2 sides, or THEMOTHERSHIP). Tip: Order The Mothership. It’s the pie of your choice topped with a lot of goodness(mash, gravy, minty mushy peas, cheddar cheese, and crispy shallots). There’s so much goodness that you can share. :)

I had high hopes but there was barely any meat in the pie! Some of the mash was cold. And minty mushy peas?! Well that’s more of a personal taste issue. But I did NOT care for them!

Ok so I’m an American and have never really had an English style meat pie before. So maybe my review is not the most accurate because I have nothing to compare it to but I thought this place was just average. Yea the price was right, which is why I came here for pie, but I had to douse the pie in ketchup and HP sauce because it had hardly any flavor. It also took them 25 minutes to bring it out… and supposedly this place is supposed to be a take away type joint? But 25 minutes for something that was likely to be frozen and not fresh beforehand is too long. There’s also no wifi here, and as a traveller I was disappointed.

Walked past this place today and having not realised it before(think its new) decided to pop in for some traditional grub! The waitress on arrival was very happy to see us and pointed us to the seating area and told us to sit anywhere, We happily took a four seater even thought there were two of us and this didn’t seem to bother anybody. The place seemed to attract a lot of walk by people, all who attempted to get into the sealed off entrance. This makes for mild amusement. I can gather this is a chain of a «successful» pop up store(pretty sure I have seen it at various food markets) The menu has a decent amount of pies, each which can be had on their own, with Mash or mushy peas. There are also deals such as «pie and side» for £7. I went for the steak and ale pie aka«the moo» with mash, I also tried the coffee which was quite visibly advertised around the store. The coffee arrived and was ok, a bit on the strong side but otherwise good. The food was exactly the portion I wanted for the time of the day(early afternoon) perhaps a little light for a man in the evening. The mash was nice, good consistency and with a hint of butter. The Pie was tasty however I thought that the crust was a little on the tough side and the steak could have made a larger appearance. For the price the whole place was pretty good! I would definitely want to try some of the other tasty sounding pies and I can only hope that the pie crust on the day was perhaps just a little over cooked rather than a set standard.
