Prick Tattoos

Although on the pricey side, Prick! is a legend among tattoo studios for its history as a celebrity spot. Its décor is as interesting as it gets — street art, skulls and snakes — and its artists are talented and friendly.

I was in London and wanted to get another tattoo from somewhere in London. I found Prick and Henry Hate… I thought to myself cool he’s done some things for Amy Whinehouse… I scheduled my appointment and got in there. I emailed what I wanted and the size and where, he gave me a price and i thought was reasonable… I got in the studio and all of a sudden the price went up another 100£… not happy, i reluctantly agreed… talk about a rush service… when I comment and said there were some issues i’d like fixed. he said let it heal and come back. He knew I was in town on business and only had another 2 – 3 weeks before I left. He said oh well. has to heal before fixes can be done… it’s all healed and I am embarrassed to show it. He did it in B&W when I specifically gave a picture with color in it. He doesn’t listen to his clients

They are rude. All of them. And the basement where you get tattooed looks as dirty as any random place in Camden, but the prices are very steep!

besides having a personal problem with the owner, i would not recommend this tattoo shop. regardless of how rude he is.

So, I’m a kinda clean-​cut kinda guy… Work, sleep, work, socialise, sleep. No weirdness, and kinda plain sailing when it comes to life… You get the idea!
Anyway, I went to Tesco to get a sandwich one lazy Sunday and thought ‘hmm, I want to do something random’… Which brought me nicely to the doors of Prick Tattoos.
I walked in and started chatting about how I wanted to get a piercing, but due to work it couldn’t be visible. The staff were hilarious and we discussed, light heartedly about getting a nipple pierced as it isn’t sore and is easily hidden or removed without trouble.
So, in for a penny, in for a pound, next thing I know I am handing over some cash and having one then the other nipple pierced. Fantastic. No pain, no blood and no drama.
It is literally the craziest thing I have done, but I don’t regret it and touch wood, haven’t had any problems.
If it wasn’t for the friendly staff, clean environment and my boredom, I would have never done it… Do something crazy — get pierced!

The name ironically sums it up all too well, avoid.

My sister is adorably frightened of needles, so when at the age of 25 she finally mustered the courage to have the piercing that had closed up as a teenager redone, I was very proud and went with her for moral support. She was working around Old Street at the time so instead of going to Claire’s accessories as in days gone by, we went to Prick. Did I mention it was an ear piercing? not through any obscure part of the ear either, she didn’t want a piercing gun stuck in her ear to see how far the stud could go into her head or some sort of flesh tunnel connecting her vagina to her ear, just a regular, safe, old ear lobe piercing. Prick was not impressed. Prick appeared to have better things to do on a Monday afternoon; anyone could have come in to get their arse cheeks stapled together or to get some sparrows or (yawn) pin up girls tattooed on their faces. They didn’t, but they could have and Prick seemed to be ever so put out about wasting their time on a boring old ear piercing.
When my terrified sister enquired if they were going to use a gun, her personal prick (er) replied in the most patronising way possible that «piercing was an art form» ergo, she would not be using a gun. I am pretty certain that the general animosity we felt here was down to the fact that these people are piercing snobs of the highest order. They may be much more pleasant if your intention is to get a huge tattoo or life threatening piercing and I would be much more inclined to do this than my sister, but if I was going to spend 12 hours being repeatedly stabbed, I wouldn’t choose to have it done by a socially dysfunctional human pin cushion, it would just add to the general discomfort.
The follow up advice involved my sister asking when she could take the stud out and receiving the cryptic response «Depends Really…» That was it, the ill fated piercing has subsequently closed up. Perhaps it was naïve of me to assume that the idea of tattoo and piercing covered crusties being antisocial and rude was a huge stereotypical myth thought up by frightened grannies, however it was certainly a stereotype perpetuated by the staff at Prick.

Absolutely brilliant tattoo parlour had 2 done on the same day! The Guys who work there are really talented and designed both of them and my sisters and my best mate’s. One was a cover up and the difference is astounding! would always go here. Great service!
