There are three things I really loving doing — being on my own, eating and travelling by train. So if I happen across a triple whammy to combine all three, I am a pretty happy chappy. Uncharacteristically, I arrived super early for a train from Euston so rather than get something to eat on the train, I thought I’d kill time by sitting down. Euston was pretty busy that day but Prime Burger had plenty of seats and many lone diners, so it was clearly the place for me. I had relatively low expectations as I feel should be the rule for anywhere that serves burgers. I played it pitifully safe by ordering the bog standard chicken burger, with lettuce, onion and tomato and garlic mayonnaise and I paid for the meal option, selection a side of their allegedly posh and luxurious truffle fries and a beer, because I am an anti social, solo dining, burger chomping drunkard. The food came really quickly which, because of my time wasting strategy, I was a little disappointed with. Ha! Anyway, the burger was excellent. The chicken was fresh, the lettuce and tomato were fresh, the bun was fresh… I think it was actually a cloud. Pretty sure I ate a cloud that day. All was well on the burger front! The fries — well, to begin with they were more of an oven chip than a fry. They had a chewy, melted cheese on them and a side of garlic mayo. They were absolutely OK but nothing I couldn’t have done at home with a bag of McCain. I did go there for a burger though so my 4 star review is for that. Next time I am being a miserly, people hating, animal eating, beer guzzling trainspotter, I’ll be sure to grab another more exciting burger at Prime and see what else they have to satisfy my belly, while quietly remembering that I’m a misanthrope.

I couldn’t find this venue when I was trying to check in as the address here seems totally different to the one on the Prime Burger website. A balcony area has appeared in Euston Station with Leon and Prime Burger and a people watching space upstairs. The poster outside said a meal deal was a burger fries and a drink but there’s quite a lot of variation in prices so it doesn’t really mean a lot to me. Ordering was pretty easy however. I ordered a Chicken Burger and then realised my choice of drink was probably a 330ml Can! I’d prefer a bottle so I can carry it away when I’m done rather than leave half a can of drink somewhere. The staff were friendly and told me the chicken burger might be 10 minutes. I didn’t bother to time it but it seemed quicker. The fries were pretty reasonable and the chicken was really great. Good thing there it was not busy as the man next to me had decided to have a mobile office meeting taking up FOUR seats. He didn’t have a burger infront of him and I felt it was a bit cheeky to be taking up space while he was telling whoever he was on the phone too that they were under performing. Good thing I didn’t work there I’d have turfed him off! My burger fries and CAN came to £10.50. which was at least £2 above what I would probably pay which is why its only got three stars. I appreciate I’m paying extra as its a railway station. Worth trying if you have limited time at the station.

I came here because I was looking for something quick while I waited for a train in Euston Station. Euston has plenty of places to get food and I was soooo nearly tempted to get sushi instead but it was slightly pricier and I felt like I was in a burger mood. Plus, I badly wanted to charge my phone and they had loads of sockets, so Prime burger won. It’s pretty standard burger stuff, normal choices of beef or chicken, possibly with a veggie option too. Normal toppings. I chose a bacon cheese burger, fries and a diet coke. They offer meal deals when you get a combo of burger chips and a drink but even then it still felt like it wasn’t super cheap. Maybe that’s just London or the convenience of being in the station. It was super convenient. My burger was ready in no time and I had a seat with a great view of the station board so I could anxiously look up from my meal and decide whether or not I needed to run. So that was good. I also really appreciated the power sockets. The restaurant itself didn’t have awe-inspiring style but it was light, bright, not too crowded, clean(the staff we’re pretty efficient at moving people’s discarded trays) and just generally fine. The chips were ok. The burger was ok. It would have been good but the bacon was hard. Not crisp, hard. Like it gets when its been cooked right but then spends too long under a heat lamp. I pulled it out and ate the burger without it. There was plenty of food, though, and I knew I wouldn’t need another snack during my 4 hour train journey, so that was good. All in all this place is fine but there’s probably more interesting places nearby. Next time I’d go for the sushi.

So I can’t give this a typical review because I visited prime burger today as part of their free burger giveaway, but my experience was pleasant enough. However, I’m going to be honest with you, although l enjoyed my free truffle burger I have had better. I think for around 6 to 9 pounds a burger i would expect it to be tastier — less grey and more succulent. My bun was a bit cold(but we can forgive them as I was 90th in line within a 30 minute rush of 100 free orders), and the truffle didn’t really come through. But I did enjoy it and the size was a good’un, i ate it at lunch and at 8pm I’m still full. I would order here if I was about to get a train and wanted something more substantial. Also for those worried about missing their trains. If your burger doesn’t arrive in 8 minutes you get it free. Chew chew!

It’s a shame to give a new restaurant a bad review, especially as I’m the first to review it, but I just don’t understand how you can get a burger so wrong. The décor is clean and modern, with a pretty decent-sounding menu. I opted for the basic offering,(sans mayo & Onion) and was dismayed by the grey BOILED(?) patty between the brioche bun! It is seasoned ok, but it looks like the kind of burger you get at one of those scran-vans outside a concert venue. Like it had been kept warm all day in a bain morie. Confusing doesn’t even come close. There are so many great burger places in London, I just wish one of them had opened up in the new Euston station concourse instead of Prime Burger.
