Although just a small pub tucked away down an alley near Leicester Square, the bar staff are fantastically friendly and the atmosphere is nice and cozy. It’s a great little place to meet up for a few drinks, and you won’t get any trouble. Food is tasty, although it’s really more about the intimate set-up to enjoy a few drinks amongst a nice, non-rowdy crowd.

Tucked away in tourist central is a pub full of people who look like they were desperately looking for an ‘English pub experience’ in Knightsbridge and this was the closest they could get. Sadly, it’s not the best representation of an English pub and I only stumbled in here because I was thirsty and tired of walking. So it seemed with every other person in there(though they were mostly tourists and thus excused). If you’re smart enough to use Unilocal, you’re probably also smart enough to find something better(unless you too are thirsty and tired of walking).

I agree with other reviewers. New owners appear to have strayed from what was working — good beers and let the good times roll from there — to average beer and girls in skintight clothing. You can tell from the lack of customers on a Saturday night that people don’t seem to have taken to this.

This pub is a little hidden down an alley and we popped in for a drink as it was the first pub we walked past that wasn’t packed on a Sunday afternoon. I don’t usually go somewhere empty as I feel like a place will be busy if it’s good and work going to and not good if it’s empty. Outside vote with their feet after all. However, we were looking for somewhere we could get seats for five of us and web badge it wasn’t too noisy so we could have a good catch up. This pub was great for that as it was so quiet and there were just two other people in the main bar area. We did discover loads of people in a room upstairs and when I chatted to a lady in the toilets I found out that they were doing a Shakespeare group recital! It seems more of an older persons pub as the crowd upstairs were mostly in their senior years from what I could see and the TV in the bar was showing the Great British Bake Off! It was a comfy nice little pub, prefect for a quiet catch up with friends.

I used to work in this bar back in ’96. It’s a shame that I worked there because I just love their wares. Tim Taylor’s, Theakstons, so many continental beers as well as Becks on tap! It’s a shame to hear that it might be going down hill, my rating is based purely on my past experiences.

I stopped by when I was waiting for my dinner/Ave Q date. The pub is in the alley right by the Charing Cross station and in between many theaters– it’s a wonderful location with only foot-traffic and great for outside sitting. SInce my friend was super late, we decided to just grab food there in order to make it to Ave Q. on time. We took the bar-tenders recommendation and had pork chops topped with fried eggs and we also got an appetizer size wings. The food tasted okay, a bit too salty for me, but definitely acceptable. It was a good deal overall, lots of food for a decent price. The drink selection isn’t amazing but again it was acceptable. The place do get very crowded on the first floor, and the crowded is a mix of locals, tourists and sometimes creepy old men hitting on female tourists. I did have a really good time there that night and again the next night because the bar-tenders were friendly and fun, and I met a variety of cool people there. However, this place is not for everyone, and I don’t think I’d go back again unless I am stuck in the West End waiting for a show to start.

This used to be one of the better pubs in central London. It stocked a massive range of Belgian and German beers long before those all became so fashionable so was alwats a great place to try something new — soaked up by their mighty pies. Sadly they have now veered away from this and it has become a pretty bog standard pub whilst many around it have upped their game.

Quite a nice pub with the right kind of atmosphere. My main reason for going there was that they sold Theakstons Old Peculier. Suddenly they didnt have it any longer. I havent tried it now a while. Do they have it again? Does anybody know?

The Round Table is just off Charing Cross rd, so easy access to a train station. One good thing for you smokers out there, they have two wooden tables and benches outside. They do serve food though the only thing I have eaten there is their nachos with cheese, which is very good. One great thing about this pub is that there is a room upstairs that you can hire out. They also do comedy night in the room upstairs which is great for you stand up fans. Over all it’s a ok pub, not my first choice as I feel like it has a impersonal atmosphere but I am quite happy to have a quick drink there.
