Salt

Salt was not my preferred coffee joint of choice in this area which had loads of competition. While the service was jolly and the shop was airy and bright, the thing is their coffee was pretty weak, and, at the price, expensive, particularly when you consider that they only use one shot in every drink, not the two I’ve come to expect from London drinks.
The one unbeatable thing about them though is that the cheese and chilli jam croissant sandwich was unbelievably good. And, for that, I will mourn their closing.

Salt had been recommended. The coffee’s good (but, like every other coffee shop in London, over-​priced). Dropped £6.20 for a porridge and latte. Wow.
The porridge was tasty (but whoever heard of putting grapes on porridge, rather than berries?).
The space is not especially comfortable; tabletops are high, seats are low, kind of cramped.
There are so many coffee shops around with hipster-​ish baristas and expensive beans. Growing a bit weary of the trend.

Fantastic little coffee shop. GREAT coffee drinks… They use square mile beans and make perfect espresso drinks. I get the egg bacon croissant… Yum.
Very friendly staff.
Whenever I stay hear Lincoln’s inn fields I have breakfast here.

I like their coffee, I suggest you try the cappuccino. The drink and food is great there, but I think I like the feeling in the salt café. I read a hermes pedia (
) book there. You should try it.

Après plusieurs passages dans le quartier, je n’avais pas encore pris le temps de m’arrêter dans ce tout petit café… le grand soleil rend la mini mini terrasse avec quelques cubes en bois pour s’assoir et poser son café irrésistible!
Finalement, malgré sa façade minuscule, ce café s’étire en longueur, avec une salle au fond avec deux grandes tables et de beaux tabourets. Wifi disponible… mais seulement dans cette pièce, dommage pour la terrasse…
L’accueil est très sympathique, les gâteaux avaient l’air appétissants, l’ice-coffee était pas mal, sans plus, un peu trop sucré/​chocolaté à mon goût… j’aurais dû prendre un café-​café, ce sera pour la prochaine fois! 4 étoiles quand même pour le charme du lieu et le service.

Lovely, well-​brewed tea and tasty bites. The customer service was charming and it was a perfect place to spend after a lovely morning at the British Museum.
I got a pot of Golden Yunnan, a favorite of mine, and a croissant while my maman got a great mushroom quiche. I’d come back in a heartbeat.

I’ve just experienced this wonderful little place on lunch.
The sausage and lentil stew was outstanding, rich flavours, extremely filling and succulent sausage made this a perfect lunchtime meal.
This topped off with a red velvet cake which was extremely moist and layered in the most indulgent icing, washed down with a very creamy flat white.
The price was a little higher than I would normally pay but I suspect I’ll not need dinner!

A great little place perfectly situated between holborn tube and covent garden. Delicious cappuccino, friendly service and a clean, modern loo. Worth knowing about… worth visiting.

Wonderful! Their current menu has some great winter warmers like stew and potatos, but has the classic salads, soup and sandwiches too. The coffee is great and the staff completely lovely. About to make this place a regular spot for lunch.
Gets quite busy around lunch time though, so try to get there before 1 or just after 2, otherwise you’ll be waiting a while for a table. The service is pretty fast and they also do take away.

Having spent the last two years of my life attending university only a five minute walk away, I’m seriously questioning how I didn’t know salt existed until a few weeks ago.
Good coffee shops are in short supply in the area, yes there’s Fleet River (
) but apart from that the pickings are slim.
While I can’t say it’s my favorite coffee shop in London, regardless both the food and coffee were fantastic. The chickpea and chorizo stew was incredibly flavourful, and a good flat white always makes me happy. I was also pretty jealous of a friend’s choice, who demolished the home made granola with fresh berries and greek yogurt.
One star taken away for slightly bizarre music being played.
Ps. There’s more seating in the back room.

Love the coffee at this place! It comes in small cups, is strong, properly roasted and the milk is velvety smooth, never burnt. The cakes are amazing. It’s posh and expensive and oh-​so-​hipster, but who cares when it tastes this good! A welcome alternative to the horrid chains in this part of town!

A fantastic tiny coffee shop and café. Things are fresh, unique, made on the spot. Oh my yes.
Salt does coffee really, really well. Fresh, strong cups of whatever you order. Also, try the juice, which is fresh squeezed when you order it and may be the best cup or orange juice I’ve ever had.
They also do a nice array of salads and sandwiches, all which feel really fresh. There’s clearly nothing processed or old here, it’s all off the shelf, into being made, into your mouth.
It is a little pricey but worth it for sure.
The shop is small and intimate. Both times I’ve come, there’s been a long line waiting to order food. It moves quickly, but it is there for sure.
That’s my only real complaint: size. They are tine and works against them as both a coffee shop and café. Their ordering counter takes up most of the room when you walk in, making it hard to even form a queue. Then, tables are few and far between. There is another semi-​hidden room in the back (just keep walking, you can’t miss it), but even here offers two long wooden table where everyone sits family style, not nearly enough room for the crowds that fill this place.
Still, you trade the good with the bad and if this place was bigger it would loose it’s charming atmosphere. Prepare to wait, take it to go and you’ll love everything you get.

Great service, DELICIOUS food offerings and their iced coffee is my new vice. I’ve been in for a mixed salad every day this week… followed by an iced coffee. I’m on a wedding dress diet at the moment but I guess super healthy something followed by a not-​so-​healthy but just too delicious beverage balances itself out right?
I’m off now anyway. Gonna get me another salad and coffee!

Although one can actually get a decent cup of coffee at Pret and Caffe Nero, there are not many indie coffee places that I’ve found that meet my obnoxious and moderately highbrow tastes. My wife is even worse when it comes to coffee so when I had a chance to bring her here, I went for it.
The quality of their lattes is not comparable to other places I’ve been to in London and I love the food as well. The wife had a yoghurt, granola and fruit dish for a late Sat breakfast and was very impressed by the quality.
To be fair, its pretty pricey but entirely worth it IMHO.

I only had a cappuccino here but gosh was that a good one! These guys really know how to make a coffee and in my opinion leave the costa’s and Starbucks way behind. Next time I’ll grab something to eat as well. Definitely worth stopping here if you’re short on caffeine :)

If you love properly made cappuccinos, espressos and the like then this is definitely the place for you. Cappuccino was never meant to be served scalding hot in a bucket — I am sure that there is a place for that but a proper café is not it.
SALT offers excellent teas and coffees for the more discerning palate. It won’t be to everyone’s taste — if you want a skinny mocha latte or somesuch drink then there are numerous establishments that will cater to your whims and fancies. If, however, you want a coffee the way God intended it and the way they will serve it in any Italian café worth its… well… salt.(sorry that was incredibly unintentional) then go to SALT. The one thing you won’t be is disappointed.
Oh, and the food is great too!!!

This place has a bit of a «Fernandez and Wells» feel when you walk in – counter/​bar seating and lots of pretty looking sandwiches that can be toasted. They were serving a lovely-​looking squash soup when I was there. I just grabbed a toasted chicken sandwich (which happened to be delicious). They serve square mile coffee (always a plus) and I was delighted by the back room which had plenty of seating (although word is out about this place and most of the seats were full).
Highly recommend this place for a relaxing lunch or coffee and pastry.

Current favorite coffee in town. Have managed to resist the delicious looking sandwiches and pastries but walking in to the smell of baking bread is weakening my resolve!
