San Miguel’s biggest strength, as noted by previous reviewers, is that it’s open until 1am on week nights — including food service.
Beyond this, it’s not a bad little establishment. We ordered a number of tapas plates and a bottle of wine to share between 4 of us after a night out — the food was tasty and the red wine was good. Our total bill came to around £60 — not cheap for late night munchies, although not expensive for a light meal.
The waiting staff were a little abrupt /​didn’t seem overly keen to accommodate us, and we were unfortunately seated at a table right next to the toilets, which did take away from the intimate tapas experience somewhat.
I wouldn’t visit San Miguel for a special occasion, but can see myself returning for more tasty late-​night morsels.

Wish I’d had more time in London to eat here. Only had the chorizo al vino (delicious), the gambas al ajillo (also delicious), and the mejillones San Miguel (good but not quite as good as the chorizo or prawns), plus a dessert of tiramisu. It’s a solid tapas restaurant, down some stairs from the street – which is Chapel Street, not exactly Edgware Road, but you’ll see a sign for the restaurant as you walk – good service and good food for a good price.

San Miguel’s won’t win any awards, but it’s food was extremely decent… that doesn’t sound much like a compliment, but it should be. I liked everything I ate, and since it was tapas and there were six of us, we tried a number of dishes. Coming in at a little under £20 a person (including a bottle of wine) it was also reasonable, so I have no problem recommending San Miguel’s, just don’t expect anything fancy.

While I’m only giving three stars, I will go back. The food is decent, as is the service. Biggest plus? Open late in London. My favorites of the tapas were the croquetas, chorizo, grilled chicken. My boyfriend loved the anchovies.

Went here a few weeks ago. I think the address is wrong as it’s in Chapel St not Edgeware road. It’s very old school Spanish on that it looks like something out of the 80’s. However and if you look at the place through and ironic lens it’s quite funny. ShAme that the food is very mediocre.. Staff are really friendly though.

My traveling companion and I stopped by San Miguel’s the first and last nights we were in London. The first night brought us there because they’re open later than most pubs (and right across the street from where we stayed).
We were treated to live entertainment, and perhaps because I was a few glasses of wine into my evening, I had such a great time listening to the keyboard player warble out his repertoire that I felt moved to approach him on my way out to tell him how passionately he sang.
All I can really attest to is the drinks and entertainment, but I thoroughly enjoyed both.

This is a small place, situated in a basement just off Edgware Road. As has always been my experience with Tapas, the price can add up, especially as the wine list averages around £20, but it would be unfair to say it was dear. The staff are very friendly and, best of all, you can order until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
There is a pianist every night except Sunday. He is not fantastic, and plays on a dodgy keyboard. Still, if you go late doors, there will be people dancing. It is a bar as well as a restaurant.
If you fancy a relaxed meal, somewhere fun, friendly and a bit different, I’d give this place a go. I go here fairly often with my girlfriend who lives locally.
