Scribbler

As previously said, I love cards and card shops and as for Scribbler, this is my idea of utopia and I can literally spend an age in here browsing, chuckling away to myself and then stocking up on a vast array of fab cards for many an occasion!
You will find such a wide variety of cards — some of which some people may find offensive, I find these funny! You will also find bags; coasters; pens; diaries; notebooks; mugs; wrapping paper; fridge magnets amongst other treats and all of the funky, colourful kind.
The service is friendly, fast and good and the location fantastic — how can you go wrong?

This is my favourite place to buy cards, especially birthday cards for the less easily offended of my friends (!) Their selection ranges from the cute to the outrageous but is definitely a good stop for a unique card.
The only problem I have in this shop is I tend to get a fit of the giggles looking at the cards and this can be embarrassing when shopping on your own…

It’s your mum’s birthday and you need something funny, with pop out parts and lots and lots of glitter and possibly plays music.
Done and done and done and done my friend.
They have tons of cards to choose from for many various occasions and even some blank ones as well. And some wrapping paper choices and little gift bags.
Also some small notebooks and little gifts to accompany your card purchases (if you happen to be in a hurry to have lunch with your mum and forgot to buy anything sorrymomI’llremembernextyearIswear!).
Actually I specifically was looking for stationary sets (as I have run out of my teenager style hello kitty paper and envelopes) and wanted to upgrade to something more sophisticated that my pen pals would appreciate. Unfortunately they didn’t carry anything like that but the lovely store clerk suggested I try another shop down the street that might carry some. Love it when stores try to be helpful even when they don’t carry the item you’re looking for.

Scribbler sells harsh, sweet, brash and out of the box cards. My personal favourite greeting card reads as follows: ‘Fu@k All the Global Warming Bullsh*t’. What can you not like about this store? You’re guaranteed to find a greeting card that suits the personality of the person you send it to. They already have Valentine’s Day cards in stock, so if you’re not into the traditional lovey-​dovey overly romanticised version of V-​day then you’ll find an outlandish, rebellious card for your partner here. I found one that said, ‘It had to be you, punk’. I’m caustic and I can’t usually find witty cards, but I’ve got all the sarcasm I need in this place. They have nice, butterfly laced cards too, so sweet people, don’t feel left out.

I can be rather fussy with my cards, it needs to match with the wrapping paper, it needs to be personal, and of course pretty.
Scribbler is a good place to pop in as the selection is wide, but I remember actually buying an card from there only once, and that was an emergency situation. I really needed one immediately. The problem is the style. The card selection tries to be so cool that the style often ends up being little pretentious. You know those cards with witty slogans and stupid pictures, drawing attention. Also these cards are well priced, you can easily pay £5 for a single card and with that price you could already get a hand made one from some markets.

A good card shop along Long Acre in Covent Garden, Scribber stocks some interesting, quirky and unusual greeting cards. They have a wide selection, so you can find something for every occasion. There are some small gifts too, and wrapping paper, so you can easily pop in here during a lunch break to get a small present for a colleague. That was how I discovered it at any rate, as calendars and agendas are pretty useless for me!
The only thing is that its pretty small, so if you want some time to browse, it would be best to come during a quiet time. Three is a crowd — literally!

Scribbler is great for more quirky, off-​beat cards, not those with fluffy bears and boring roses on the front. Filled with lots of witty and unusual cards and smaller gifts (great stocking fillers) as well as a selection of funky wrapping paper.

Scribbler is a tiny card shop located along Longacre which sells cool greetings cards. It can be a bit of a squeeze getting in the shop and moving around, but if it’s on the empty side is well worth a visit to pick up cards, wrapping paper, stationary, gifts & postcards. All the stock is pretty fashionable so you can usually find something quite unusual and funky.
