Great restaurant, fantastic Turkish food and impeccable service. The four of us took the«Special of the house 2» and couldn’t have more than half of it! Definitely recommended!

Great food, great value. My friend and I shared a lahmacun, a pide and a kofte and between that and the delicious complimentary bread /salad /zaziki were very full. The meat was very well prepared, well spiced, the portions were generous. I found the lahmacun(thin topped flatbread) more exciting than the pide(thick topped flatbread), but maybe that’s just personal preference. Total bill for the meal for 2 including a few glasses of tea was £24. Great value. The atmosphere is a bit neon-y, two tables of Turkish children’s birthday parties when we were there. Everyone was super friendly though, and our waitress was very attentive. I haven’t tried any of the other places on Green Lanes(will try to do that soon) but I’ve had a fair bit of Turkish food over the years in Austria /Germany and Turkey, so I feel confident to say that this is the real deal. I’ll be back to try one of those big plates of grilled meat that everyone seemed to be eating.

One of the many establishments on Green Lanes offering extremely good chargrilled kebabs. We came in for a takeaway but they still looked after us as if we were customers who would sit in. We were offered complimentary tea while our dishes were freshly cooked. The food was so tasty and the meat was perfectly cooked, still juicy and seasoned really well. Always get the lahmacun as a side or even as a snack if you don’t want anything big! They even threw in more complimentary desserts into our bag as we left. You can’t go wrong.(Takeaway — 21/01/2015)

Selale is a much raved about favourite of many Harringay resident’s. There is always much debate over which Turkish restaurant is the best on Green Lanes. As far as I’m concerned this wins. Not just because the food is consistently good, well priced and traditional. Really what wins me over is the friendliness of the staff and the fact they have the ‘outdoor’ seating area which is a lifesaver in the Summer and great for people watching. My menu favourites? Lentil soup, feta salad and one of their daily stews followed up by nuclear Turkish coffee and one of their milk puddings. The ultimate comfort food.

As a Turkish person living in US, this was what I have been craving for! Even better than restaurants in turkey.

I totally agree with the 5 star voters. This place is really good. They offer free salad, bread and tea like many other Turkish restaurants. Portions are generous and reasonably priced. Haringey is a gem for Turkish restaurants and Selale is one of them.

Make sure you arrive here starving! The meals are massive and amazing. You will be greeted with complimentary bread, starters etc. The service is attentive and the setting is relaxed. Loved it. Will be back.

Woah mama. You might not expect this place to look like it does from the review’s it’s gotten. On the outside, it kind of looks like your average Mediterranean spot, with the neon lights and the goldfish bowl glow coming from inside. And then the atmosphere in there isn’t much different. It’s big and the tables are comfortable but it’s kind of cookie cutter in appearance. But then you get that menu and my god, my friends, my god. There are multiple pages of epic food, everything from your average lamb kabobs to things like Iskander which I’ve only ever had elsewhere in the world. The prices are good(each main is about £8) and the sides are quality. You end up just ordering a ton and then being too full to eat it, because there’s so much food. But more than that, the food is so good. So. Damn. Good. Well prepared, well presented, well delicious. We devoured our starters and enjoyed it so much we forgot our mains were coming. Damn. The staff here is also a selling point, since they are helpful, friendly and have no problem being stopped and asked for things like water refills. A staff makes or breaks a place like this and it was made. So good, so tasty, so filling, I would be back in a heartbeat.

It was our first time at the restaurant, and we’re happy to say that we’ll be back for me. Very reasonably priced, authentic Turkish food. We had the chicken shish and the lamb kebab, both were excellent and came with a salad, rice, flatbread and various dips on the side. The meat was tender, juicy and full of flavour. The service was very attentive and welcoming. Were greeted with a handshake when first entering, and even give a Turkish tea and a dessert on the house! Total price was around seventeen pounds, very much worth it considering that we were very happy and very full after our meal.

Nothing to add to all of the other reviews. Just wanted to make sure to get my 5 stars in, because YES — it’s that good. I’ll be back.

Believe the reviews — seriously a 5 star local casual spot. My favourite part is you get loads of free sides before you order(salad, hummus) and after you finish your food you get a free Turkish tea and Turkish dessert! Prices are cheap and definitely worth it. If you’re from Central London, it’s quite a trek up to Harringay, however, it’s worth it. Great for groups. They even allow you to bring your own wine, however, they charge a £5 corkage fee. And whilst you’re up there check out the Turkish markets and dessert shops near by — lots of good deals and different foods to be found(and eaten!)

Based on the reviews, decided to check this place out. SOGOOD! I’ve been going to a bunch of Turkish restaurants around NorthEast London and so far, this place tops them. Every time it gets better and better so throughout the reviews, I think I’ve said they’ve all been my favorite. Each spot has it’s different highlights. First off, the complementary salad. It wasn’t ice burg lettuce with some veggies… it was mixed greens, nice dressing and it was big. Super tasty. Also got a yogurt and tomatoey dip. Wasn’t a fan of the yogurt one(just not my cuppa tea), but the tomato based one was great. So, you get complementary salad, dips, and bread… what’s not to like so far? Ordered: Lahmacun pide(£2.90) — Bread was perfectly thin and tasty toppings. Aubergine dip(£4.25) and Kisir dip(£4.25) — Made traditionally so no surprises. Delic. Mixed Shish(£10.90) — Lamb was juicy and not too gamey tasting and chicken was moist and good. Tavuklu Pide(£8.50) — Bread/crust was a bit thicker than expected. Tasty, but I recommend ordering a meat plate for your main than a pide. It’s good… but the meats are really good. After we finished we got complementary tea and dessert. The tea was good and the dessert… it was like a sweet tapioca ball. It wasn’t too sweet and it was the perfect finish to the meal. The only thing is is that there’s a £5 corkage fee. But after all the nice and complementary eats you get, doesn’t matter. Worth it. Staff are nice and the space is nice and big. Will def be back again.

I read the reviews, so made the trek to come here for dinner, it was well worth it. The food was absolutely delicious, we got the hot mix meze as a starter and there was nothing left when we were done. We did the lamb shish with yogurt and the bream fish. The hummus is supurb and the salad that comes with dinner is great. I don’t know what to write that will convince you to try this place but imagine you just read it, Go try this place you will not be disappointed. We will be coming back when friends and family visit. The atmosphere is lively and the place is clean.

Great value as they give you so much food and extra things on the side. Also they are happy to wrap whatever you did not manage to eat and they put in a couple of nice things to go with it. Decent service and they do check you are happy with the meal. For people who want a lot of good food for good prices, this is great.

To be honest, I had come to Harringey Green Lanes because I wanted to try out the food at Gökyüzü, but when the line at this place was out the door, I consulted the Unilocal App and it pointed me in the direction of Selale. I have to say, it was the review of Yinnie C. that made me come here; I trust her opinion and if she says that eating at Selale has made her rethink the idea of a kebab, then I should come here as well. And indeed, my dining experience at Selale was great. The place itself is not very special: it’s pretty much a big room with loads of tables and mostly unoriginal design. In fact, I actually thought they were trying to hard… but what it was lacking in terms of design features, Selale made up in terms of food and service. I sat down and soon a waiter came by and asked me for my order. I easily get overwhelmed by the sheer choice of different items at Turkish restaurants and so I simply asked the waiter what he would recommend. In a very friendly manner, he then placed a hand on my shoulder and pointed me to the lamb shish. I asked him if I should go for the mixed shish(chicken and lamb), but he nudged me into ordering the pure lamb shish… and, boy, am I glad I did. It was delicious! Here at Selale, every main course comes with a mixed salad, topped of with a delicious pomegranate dressing. Also, they serve humus and tzatsiki(cacık) alongside oven fresh pita bread. At the end of the meal, they also offer you a free glas of tea(çay). When I was about to get up the waiter shook my hand and I left happy as a puppy… that’s what I call a great experience!

After visiting this restaurant last week, i can now say that i will never look at a kebab the same way because this place has raised the bar so high, it’s difficult to achieve. Anyways, the restaurant itself is quite garish, especially at 1am in the morning and still filled with locals. Definitely a good sign. Walls are adorned with family pictures and turkish celebrities, i assume, and tables lined with plastic. The place was still bustling at 1am too! Food was very generous, we began with complimentary starters of aubergine dip and tzatziki and I must say the tzatziki was OUTOFTHISWORLD. I’ve never liked tzatziki so much when I’ve ordered turkish food before but this tzatziki was incredibly moreish and the yoghurt and sour cream combo was fantastic. I could rave about this for DAYS! The bread was also very good, very very fresh. The dishes come out with rice topped with your choice of meat. We chose lamb koftas, lamb rack, chicken drumsticks/wings. Portion sizes were HAAUGE. The lamb was very very tender, not chewy at all and well marinated. The waiters were attentive and friendly but be warned, this is not the place for fancy food. Just good grub and a place to soak up the north london ethnic atmosphere. I really enjoyed my meal and for the 5 of us, we paid around £40−50 overall.

When I used to live in London, my family always used to assume that everything there was expensive. I was always keen to impress on them that, like everywhere else, if you know the right places, you can still have quality but pay a good price. Selale Restaurant is one of those places. I ate there recently, after visiting my good buddy who still lives down in Green Lanes, where I too used to live sniff We all opted to have the mixed meze starter followed by a main item from the menu. The starters came, two huge plates with hummus, tzaziki style yoghurt, babaganoush, halloumi, falafal and a few other delicious treats. The waitress, who, by the way, was amazingly friendly, also brought us two types of bread; a normal flat bread and one cooked with a smoky spice mix. All this together covered the entire table, I could have happily have grazed on that alone and been more than satisfied. Everything was so fresh and flavoursome. Then came the kebab, mine was a lamb dish served with a rich spicy tomato sauce. It was truly delicious, well balanced flavour that went well with the salads. After all this, I was struggling to focus I was so full. We were offered turkish tea, which came hot and with sugar lumps. Then came the semolina cake, sweet and delicious, a gift from them to us. All of this came in at under £10 per person. The atmosphere was lovely, friendly and courteous with a great attention to detail. I felt like I was a family friend. I can’t recommend this place enough…

Hands down the best Turkish restaurant… almost ever! This area is awash with fine Turkish eateries but this one is definitely my favourite. It has everything; –Little blue«eye» ornaments on every flat surface. –At least 2 large pictures with the moving waterfall effect –harsh strip lighting –plastic table cloths …everything! The food is incredible, do yourself a favour and order something you’ve never heard of before. If you eat in, their friendly staff give you(GIVE you!) pitta with hummus and tzatziki to tide you over before the food arrives. Everything comes with rice and veg and the portions are huuuuge! The only way I’ve ever left there is stuffed to the gills on less than a tenner! Well worth the small bus ride from finsbury park tube(and indeed, the tube ride to Finsbury park).
