As well as stocking a large range of haberdashery and wool, We can supply industrial machines in corporate colours and customise machines for individial clients (see gallery for pictures) we also restore machines to the highest standards, matching original finishes if required.

History

Established in 1947.

The founder and original owner Alfie Myers. Based in Stoke Newington serving textile and leather and shoe industries also specialised in some huge sewing machines for the m.o.d. & golf bag industries etc, the reins of the company were handed over to his son, the current owner Robb Myers in 1979. Robb has worked in Germany with Pfaff dealers.

The business started serving the educational sector in the early 1960‘s. This side of the business has grown year on year and now serves over 50 schools and 10 colleges in the U. K

Robb Myers the current owner has continued the same ethos set out by his father. Honest, straight forward trading, of good qualty equipment that’s well finished and always trying to provide the correct machine for the job, this requires a lot of knowledge.

Robb has worked with the best in Germany, Holland & Belgium. Robb served his apprenticeship in Glasgow with ex Singer engineers Clyde Bank Kilbowie

As a lifelong dressmaker, I cannot believe I didn’t find this gem before now. I popped in for some advice relating to the purchase of an overlocker and cover stitcher and was amazed by the amount of the friendly advice given by Robb. He spent well over an hour explaing the pros and cons of available machines, despite being in the shop on his own. I was so impressed I put a desposit on two machines. They arrived a few days later and I went back for a lesson on setting them up with Robb and Tina. They both spent loads of time with me, allowed me to bring in my own samples of fabric to test on and ensured I was happy and confident before I left with the machines.
This is clearly a business with its customers at it’s heart, a philosophy that appears to be missing from the majority of businesses today. I would recommend to anyone looking for sewing machines and haberdashery items. Thank you.

Great little haberdashery full of tempting sewing and knitting goodies, including proper silk thread which can be almost impossible to find these days. Lovely friendly staff and great service too — the chap in charge made a great fuss of my 90 year old mum even though she only bought a packet of buttons. Recently expanded premises mean they must be doing well — and long may they continue to do so!

Lovely friendly staff, honest and wont make you spend a fortune… or tell you to get your sewing machine cleaned and maintained when not needed… one stop shop for all your sewing and knitting needs… shame they dont have fabric though…

I’ve been relying on Rob and Sid to rescue me from sewing machine disasters for about five years now — well, they fix the machines anyway. I’ve bought three machines from them (workhorse Singer, Janome quilting machine, Janome overlocker) and can happily say that the after-​sales service is brilliant, plus they match internet prices — they sell mainly Janome but service machines of all makes and all ages.
Why would you buy online or from a department store, when you can buy from someone who’ll fix and service your machine?
They also have a selection of haberdashery and acrylic wool. The trimmings are standard but you’ll find everything you need for basic projects, plus they also still stock Gutermann thread which is increasingly difficult to find, for some reason. Great place.

Living in Hackney Wick can be pretty annoying sometimes as the only shops we have at our disposal are two kebab shops and two food shops. So when one needs something like wool you need to look further afield.
I needed some wool to make pom poms with recently so I paid Sew Amazing a visit at the end of Roman road and found all the wool i needed. This place has got a wide spectrum of different coloured wool at £1.60 a ball, quite the bargain!
The guy in here fixes sewing machines and is really lovely, i was chatting to him for ages about all sorts of things, (he especially likes to talk about his sons)
I love the sign on the door that says «We prosecute shoplifters, regardless of the amount involved — Drunks and crackheads included»

I came here to get my singer sewing machine fixed some time ago. It is run by a small family who have been in the business of fixing and selling sewing machines for over 60 years, and let me tell you now, they really know their stuff. They ordered a new part for my machine and fixed it very quickly. If you are looking for a special type of sewing machine, they stock Bernina, Brother, Pfaff, Singer and Toyota to name but a few.
The haberdashery section is great too, you’ll find every type of thread and needle here as well as yarns and ribbons. Lovely little place.

Fazit:
Coole Taschen zu nicht ganz günstigen Preisen (wie bei allen handmade Taschen).
