The worst INdian food I have had in my entire life. literally tasted Tupperware in Aloo Gobhi. I doubt that they cook fresh food. Naan and roti were not cooked properly either. I would not recommend this place to anyone. If there was an option for zero star, I would have picked that. they claimed that it is a North INdian cuisine but staff is from Bangladesh and chef from Nepal with no knowledge of how the INdian food should taste.

Decent. The food was of the Indian variety. Good chicken tikka masala, but then again, chicken tikka masala is always good. There was some confusion in the beginning about the chutneys. They didn’t give them to us.

Best Indian Food I’ve ever had! We visited Shikara in early April 2012. We were staying at the Holiday Inn Regents Park and the concierge recommended this Restaurant and it was in walking distance and open late. We set out to find it and were so happy we did. This was our best, most favorite dining experience throughout our whole week stay between London and Paris. The food was so good, we sought out another Indian place in Paris and were sadly very disappointed! My mom kept saying, lets go back to the London place LOL. We ordered and ate family style. I can’t tell you all that we ordered,(I know I ordered the Chicken Tikki and husband ordered the Murg, cant remember what others ordered) but EVERYTHING was damn good. Service was a little slow but very good. The server was very kind, personable and patient with us. The décor and ambiance was very stylish and calm. Random fact, I was entranced with the shape of the salt and pepper shakers… so entranced that I demanded to take them home lol. The owner who was there was too kind and allowed me to «purchase» them for a small fee. Eat here, you won’t be disappointed.

Good solid curry house a few hundred yards from Qype HQ in London. Living in Germany I miss a nice hot curry so went in here with an old friend after a couple of pints in the pub opposite. We had to wait a while for the food to arrive but when it came it was really good, fiery and tasty. Will return.

I wanted to love Shikara. Its feel is awesome, the food tasty, the bar impressive, but the service was so bad I couldn’t give it higher than two stars. I went to Shikara for a quick lunch with a friend, though little did I know for all the best intentions my lunch would be a full 90 minute affair. I absolutely cannot complain about the food – everything we ordered was delicious and well cooked – but the service was horrible. From waiting 10 minutes for a refill of water, to having to take our own check to the register, the food just can’t make up for the level of service. For starters we split the lamb tikka and the onion bahji. The lamb was very tasty and definitely trumped the bahji in terms of flavor and general appeal. The bahji wasn’t bad, but was quite greasy. Each starter was served with a salad and a very good spicy citrus salad dressing. I’d definitely recommending splitting a starter, but go with the lamb tikka if you have the choice. For the entrée I ordered the lamb masala. It was good – the lamb was well-stewed and tender and the sauce was pleasant and complemented the lamb. Being a spice-wimp, I was pleased with the level of spice in my dish, and my dining partner(a spiceaholic) agreed that his dish’s spice level was scorchingly perfect. We both opted to get the naan instead of rice and weren’t disappointed, though the naan was a bit thick for my personal preference. It’s a shame the service was so bad… I’d like to go back but don’t have the time it’d require.

Shikara sets the standard for Indian restaurants in London — This is the best service and food that i have seen/tasted in a long time. Highly rec the Lamb Mirchi Karahi with a garlic nann bread. The coffee is surprisingly good too.
