Smart Hyde Park Inn

Well given what I’ve paid, it’s a pretty good standard. I paid £30 for three nights and that’s is cheap for a very good neighbor-​hood. It’s very near the Bayswater underground so it’s very easy to get around.
In the room there was twelve people, and you can imagine it’s pretty warm when there’s no ventilation what so ever.
Toilets are disgusting, literally someone had a wee everywhere you look.
Showers are alright.
Personnel isn’t too welcoming and are very slow. I don’t know if they were understaffed, but you should have more than one staff member during the morning. I had to wait 10 min just to get a bloody towel.

Pros:
— short notice availability
— free breakfast
— close to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens/​Palace
— free wifi
Cons:
— each room had 18 beds, too many people in one room!
— poor ventilation
— one bathroom per 4 or 5 rooms (each holding 18 people)
— breakfast was not on site, and only included toast, jam, butter, and coffee/​tea
— wifi was restricted to reception room which was always overpopulated
— reception room had atmosphere that felt like a brothel (neon lighting)
— same price as other hostels in London that were much better quality
All in all, I would not recommend this place. I didn’t feel comfortable leaving my luggage unlocked, it was not a place of rest or recuperation from jetlag or a long flight.
Last resort option.

Das Hostel ist an einem sehr guten Standort neben dem Hyde Park. Nach ein paar Minuten Fußweg ist auch die Underground-​Station Queensway und damit ganz London einfach zu erreichen. Die (jungen) Mitarbeiter sind freundlich. Das Hostel bleibt 24h auf, sodass man auch noch nach einem längerem Pubbesuch noch reinkommt ;-)
Die kostenlose W-​LAN Verbindung reicht leider nicht in den ersten Stock hinein und ist eigentlich nur unten gut zu benutzen. Leider gibt es aber auch erhebliche Schwächen in diesem Hostel. Die Zimmer sind sehr klein, sodass kaum Platz für Koffer bleibt. Einen Tisch oder sogar Stühle wird man nicht antreffen. Dafür war das Bad und die Dusche voll funktionstüchtig. Ein großer Makel bleibt aber das Frühstück, für Gruppen serviert in einem stickigen Gemeinschaftsraum. Es bestand nur aus Toast mit einer schwer definierbaren Marmelade. Das höchste der Gefühle waren da noch die Cornflakes mit komisch schmeckender Milch.
Somit reicht es gerade noch so für 3 Sterne…

I discovered this hostel when I use to travel to London when I was student, and for me it’s the best hostel i’ve been in London.
If you are trying to find a cheap hostel is the best option. I tried another hostels similar than that one, but still it was the best one.
It’s normal to share the bedroom with more people, but you have several options: 2 beds, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14 or 15 beds, much more people in one bedroom much cheaper the price per night.
Ideal to share it with more friends! So if you have some people who wants to come to London, wants something cheap, and don’t know where to sleep, it’s a good place.
An advice: try to take your own towel because if not you’ll have to pay for one there…

Descubrí este hostal en mis tiempos de jovenzuela viajera. Si queréis ir a Londres y tener una estancia baratita este es el mejor hostal en el que he estado. He probado algunos otros de este tipo pero este gana a los demás en limpieza, ubicación, trato…
Lo normal es compartir la habitación con más gente, en las que tiene varias opciones: 2 camas, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14 o 15 camas, a más gente en la habitación más barato el precio por noche.¡Es ideal para compartir con más amigos! Así que si estáis pensando en pasar unos días por Londres y quieres algo barato, es un buen sitio. Además está genialmente situado.
Un consejo: intenta llevar tu propia toalla, porque si no tendrás que pagar por una…

Ein kleines Hostel nördlich am Hyde Park gelegen. Da ich keine Vergleichsmöglichkeit zu einem anderen Hostel habe, aber auch keine allzu hohen Erwartungen hatte, fällt meine Beurteilung (noch?) durchschnittlich aus.
Wir waren in einem 8-​Bett-​Zimmer, das Fenster ließ sich leider nicht öffnen, deshalb stank es irgendwann ziemlich. Von den Schließfächern waren mindestens zwei kaputt, da in dem Zimmer aber auch sonst niemand seine Sachen weggeschlossen hatte, haben wir uns das dann auch gespart. Die Duschen sind leider kalt, das Frühstück eher sparsam und auch nicht unbedingt lecker.
Schön fand ich an dem Hostel, dass es wirklich ein Sammelpunkt für Leute aus aller Herren Länder ist, mit einem Gemeinschaftsraum und auch einem Kicker im Eingangsbereich. Es war immer etwas los, die Leute freundlich und ruhig. Der Preis war auch akzeptabel.

I stayed in this hostel for one week and on the positive side I have to say that it’s one of the cheapest in London, quite clean and perfectly located right in the centre of London next to two tube stops. You get free breakfast in the morning, free wifi and there’s a kitchen that you’re free to use.
On the negative side, some rooms aren’t very well ventilated so they can be quite smelly when they’re fully booked, the common-​TV room isn’t very cozy and quite small and the breakfast you get is quite dodgy.
I would definitely recommend it to young people coming to London for a short visit.
