They have an affordable menu which you can taste traditional Turkish starters with wine and have a great main dish afterwards. If you miss or want to try Turkish taste you should have a visit here.

S’alright. Came here with my parents. It was very cramped. I don’t mind a restaurant busy but we were all stuck in our seats one seated. They just need more room or to take a table out. You felt like you couldn’t breathe and were trapped at your table. Service was lovely. They have these bizarre signs at each table and on the menus talking about the server, the service, their guarantee’s etc etc etc. It was cute but… A little bizzare. Also saying ‘may name is on my collar tag’ was a bit… Ropey for Me… It kind of made a point of the slave labour of a waiter.(Who I always feel for anyways.) ‘collar tag’ made them sound like dogs instead of saying ‘badge or name tag’. But maybe that’s just me. The food was okay. My parents really liked theirs. Mine was decent. I felt I could have made mine at home with some ground beef, tomato sauce, aubergine and rice. But It was lovely. And at £11 the standard cost of a nice main meal. Overall… It’s okay. I’d go again. but I wouldn’t rush back.

The clash of East and West, the beauty of Turkey, from wonderful meze to delectable tagine. Oh I do love me a good Turkish place, just not this one… The location is great just in the heart of St Christopher’s Place with heating for comfortable eating… the rest awful. I mentioned I liked tagine, I was delivered a scrap of admittedly tender meat on a couple of bits of vertebra with a very thin tasteless sauce and a side of rice… umm tasty, small, unsubstantial but where is the actual tagine? The service was also horrendous, the main server didn’t speak english saying he just served then didn’t bring the waitress when asked to… bizarre random but generally an awful experience. Lets not do that again…

Excellent food. Ask for the barbecued stuff. Authentic Turkish food, friendly staff, nice ambiance.

Sofra is tucked away, off Oxford Street on St. Christopher’s Place. A secluded spot in the middle of London’s hectic shopping district, the main attraction of Sofra is its order tables which line the little square. On a nice summer day like today, it’s wonderful to be able to sit and people watch while enjoying the elusive English sun. The menu is massive, which very lacklustre descriptions of items. For example, the menu today listed«Spicy Pots,» available in Chicken, Beef or Vegetabe, but did not elaborate as to what exactly a spicy pot WAS. When we asked the server, he said that they were a new item that they didn’t even make yet, so it wasn’t an issue. Not QUITE a satisfactory response, but there you go I would stick to the mezze at Sofra as they are head and shoulders above the mains I have tried. The hummus, tabboulleh, baba ghanoush, nut salad, falafel, and cheese parcels in filo pastry are great, as is the halloumi cheese. A nice touch at Sofra is that you are given unlimited bread and hummus throughout the meal. I ordered the house vegetables as my main — and it was basically flavourless vegetables soaked in oil, served with a side of rice and a side of yogurt. Pretty inedible and it was like it came from a different restaurant than the appetizers, which were delicious. The staff is attentive, and combined with the lovely location, great appetizers and cheap prices(CHEAP!), it’s worth an afternoon visit.

Loved the mix grill portion. Good lentil soup. Good appetizers. But I don’t recommend the salads.

Uhm, meh. Not too bad, for a late dinner, but the food we tasted(meze and a mixed grill) was absolutely not special.

This place is rather excellent in my humble opinion! The food was amazing! I had the lamb and chick peas which came with hummus, olives and bread for only £9!

Skip the lamb with butter beans, skip sofra because if you want great turkish food, go straight up to North London for your fix. It may seem cheaply priced for its location, but seriously, turkish food in north london is cheap, cheerful and open super late at night, sometimes until 2am.(although the problem then, is getting about 4 nightbuses home INTOTTENHAM. D:) I actually thought my lam with butterbeans dish tasted a bit funny. It was overtly salty, and the rice was too. I left more than half of each.(another Unilocaler concurs with me on this!) The only thing I actually like was the bread with yoghurt dip and olives. and I went home still a bit hungry.

Our experience at Sofra started a little rough. We came by at about 10pm on a Monday night with a group of seven. After asking if they had a table, the guy looked at our group and went, «Do you want to eat together?» Yes. We do. It’s why we asked for a table of seven. Really? He said he’d check and he found us one inside. We say and got menus. Sofra is a chain with a few spots through London. You get a nice choice of Turkish options at pretty good prices(most meals are £10 to £15). I did the meze platter and it was solid, for £9 I got a sample of everything — hummus, lamb, yogurt, tabbouleh, hallumi cheese, and more. All came beautifully arranged on one large plate. Delicious. Also they bring down a ton of hummus with olives and fresh bread. And refill it through the night with more. Mmm. However… The service here is bad. Really bad. We first had to physically stop a waiter to get water, then again to order, then again to get the bill. They never checked on us(and we we’re pretty hard to miss) or did any more than the minimum. Awful. So good food, good prices, terrible service. There you go.

The food was decent and the complimentary bread with hummus was a nice surprise. The only downside was the service. I arrived quite early(way before the lunch rush) with plenty of free tables but despite numerous staff loitering/chatting it was probably 15mins before we were even approached to ask if we wanted drinks/food. I would probably think twice about going back, particularly if in a rush.

The set menus, coming with wine and bread and an entrée, are a steal and it’s yummy food all around, although the real quality here are the desserts and teas on offer. I love their ‘Warm Organic Apricot’ dessert — apricots covered in some sort of rum syrup, with a dash of raspberry and a mountain of clotted cream. Really recommended, my friend and I both melted a little when we first tasted it. It’s prepared better here than the one in Covent Garden too. A bit disappointed they forced us to sit outside in 0 degree weather the weekday we came in only for dessert though. The waiter seemed freezing as well!

Sofra is in St. Chris’s square, the place to go after a hard morning shopping in Selfridges! We opted for the Starter platter which was filled with 9 different small starters, most of which were good; the spinach parcel thingy was particularly good. Grilled halloumi was cold and the hummus, though yummy was faring no better than the supermarket stuff(and was too smooth). Service was a tiny bit inattentive and my friend did find a hair or one of our olives(but she didn’t want to be embarrassing and complain). Overall ok, but not as good as where ever Zara L took me to on Primrose Hill the other week. Menu seems expensive if you don’t go for a platter, set menu or special which rather limits the range of ordering. £9 is ok for what I ate but I would defo not spring for the expensive mains…

This place offers a Turkish/Malaysian(?) menu. Location is great. The service staff was good but the Turkish dishes could be a little more authentic and flavorful. The house special is called Iskender Kebab, but from the description of it, it has nothing to do with the original Iskender Kebab you would eat in Turkey. This was very disappointing. Especially, when abroad and craving for Turkish food and finding something far from the real one although advertised and named as the real one. We had kuzu begendi and ali nazik, which were pretty much the same with slight differences in flavor. Overall, another disappointment in the search of a good Turkish restaurant outside Turkey. My favorite is still the Turkish Kitchen in NewYork. If you are not necessarily looking for an authentic place but good location with good service then you might enjoy here.

Enjoyed dinner here with a large group. The staff was incredibly accommodating by throwing together some tables outside just near the entrance. The place was packed, and we showed up unannounced. They made us feel welcome and served us like royalty. We sat outside in the cool, brisk London air, watching the shoppers and pub hoppers go by. Perfect evening. Oh, and the food was great!

It was OK. Not great. Great location, but the food was overpriced compared to what we got. I will try again, but if it is the same as the first time I went, I would not recommend.

after an hour or so of shopping on the always busy oxford st, my friend and i were famished. after a quick stop to mooch apple’s free wifi, the lovely Unilocal app on my ipod confirmed our early dinner destination: sofra! fantastic atmosphere in the tucked away corner of st christopher’s place(we went around 530, peak happy hour time, so plenty of people mulling about). a little to windy to enjoy the outdoor seating, but we situated ourselves right by a the large windows in the corner, great for people watching. prompt service, complimentary hummus, olives and bread(yum!) and daily specials priced at just under £9 if you go before 6pm. i had the lamb tagine, which was delicious and juicy so much that it basically fell off the bone. only complaint was the portion of rice served with it was much too small to eat with lamb goodness. i also had a bite of my friend’s chicken on kebab, which was quite good as well — had just enough of that char-grilled flavour, which i love. overall, fantastic place to end a day of oxford street craziness. have to check out the one closer to me @ exmouth market …

The best thing about Sofra at St Christophers Place is the location(very vibrant atmosphere) and the large amount of outdoor seating. The food is good also. The daily special menu is extensive and only for £8.95. This restaurant is owned by the same as Ozer on Regent St(which has a more upscale atmosphere). This one is more casual and great for lunch and casual dinners. The menu is extensive and I’ll definitely come back to try more items.

Since being introduced to this wonderful restaurant earlier this year I have had to go back on each of my visits to London. Just a stone’s throw from bustling Oxford Street, St. Christophers Place is an adorable little break from all the crowds, although many of them seem to have collected at Sofra — it’s a good idea to book to ensure you don’t have to wait for a table. While they have crammed a lot of tables in the restaurant, you soon forget about the proximity of your neighbours as soon as they bring out the humus and flatbread for you to nibble on whilst you ponder the menu, and unlike most places these are left for you to pick at throughout the rest of your meal. Each time I have chosen one of their set menus, which are excellent value: choose the Healthy Menu, a selection of thirteen of their meze, or instead there is the two course Winter Warmer set menu. If you choose the latter I recommend having the mixed starter, a selection of 6 meze, so you can really get a taste of all that they have to offer. By the time you’re finished with that you need a bit of a breather before you continue with the next course but the friendly waiters will have noticed that you’re finished and bring your next plate out straight away which is a rarity in many restaurants. These set menus are the best way try as much as you can, and appreciate the quality of the food at under ten pounds at lunchtime. There is plenty on offer for herbivores and carnivores alike, so go there and enjoy, you will not be disappointed.
