History

Established in 2014.

Souli is the creation of Hella Souli who has always wanted to fulfill her ambition of providing Londoners with a taste of fresh, gourmet & healthy food that is quick whilst not compromising on quality or flavour.

Souli is her interpretation of how breakfast, lunch ‘on the go’ should be. Whilst we all lead busy lives and are all short on time, we should never be short on taste.

I went there with the Baker Street food tour and it is probably the only place I will leave a specific comment on for. Indeed, it is a takeaway venue and so being on a tour and kind of rush does not impede the experience we had of the place and I think I got the whole picture. Moreover the owner was really available for the tour so we got to talk to her a lot in a friendly and calm way.
This is a family owned restaurant serving mostly takeway food even though you have a few seats inside where you can sit if you want.
The salads are fresh and I must say their quinoa salad is the most amazing and unexpected thing I tried during the tour. Why unexpected? Because I don’t like quinoa and yet with the lemon, the minth, the cashews… I loved the salad.
Then the sandwiches, their smoked salmon sandwich has been rated in the top 5 of London according to some newspaper I think. And I truly understand it. Proper bread, the real stuff that I eat back in France (you know don’t get the French started on the bread) not sandwich bread. Then the salmon, the white cheese and the salad are all very fresh!
Finally we tried the juices and same as before it is all very fresh and so tasty.
I probably said fresh too many times in that comment but that is because this is how I felt while eating, fresh and energetic!

Souli is a hidden gem in Marylebone. We live around the corner from the café and visit there at least 4x a week whether it’s just for breakfast on the weekends, grabbing a salad during the week for lunch or an afternoon coffee and snack. The space is welcoming, the food is fresh (and yummy!) and the staff is super friendly.
If you’re there for breakfast, I highly recommend trying the pancetta, egg and cheese sandwich — it’s to die for. My husband says it’s the best breakfast sandwich he’s ever eaten. It’s hard to just eat one.
Would I go back? Most definitely — it’s on our go to list for the neighbourhood. They have outdoor seating and they’re very dog friendly.

Stumbled across this new little deli-​type-​thingy recently and vowed to come back to try out the food. So I did.
Is quite awkwardly placed away from the rest of the shops on Marylebone high street but should get a bit of footfall as the road it sits on is one of the key routes between Baker Street and Marylebone.
The décor is lovely, but the food options are very limited, and pretty pricey. I am not sure if they are supposed to have a gimmick of being ‘Organic’, farmed by Pixies or include vegetables grown exclusively in Alpaca poop, but couldn’t really see how they justified the high price and small portion.
The service also needs a bit of brush up. There were 2 of us in there, one paying, the other (me) waiting and 3 members of staff. Good ratio for good service? You would think so, but the 2 people not working just looked on and it was only until the person in front had paid and left before anyone paid any attention to me and what I wanted… so what do these other 2 people do?
Anyhow, I think I’ll wait a little while for them to find their groove as it is a new business and then come back to give it another go. After all, the food I did buy was good and they do have some interesting flavour combinations.

It’s a cute establishment, and quite close to my office (whenever I am not at my client office, i.e.) so it’s a shame I have only been here once… they clearly pride themselves on the quality of their bread, as is evident from the central place they give to their loaves of bread. The food isn’t cheap but their meals are imaginative, allowing for moreish combinations of sandwiches, salads, soups, etc… I had a combination of little sandwiches and liked them, very fresh and flavorsome.
I can’t wait to try out their coffee… their claim to fame is that they roast beans from Sant’Eustachio in Rome… Sant’Eustachio is legendary and a renowned coffee institution and my memory of having their coffee in Rome is etched in my memory as one of my nicest coffee memories.
The décor and atmosphere of the café is semi-​yuppie, semi-​hipster. They have a giant, gilt-​edged guest book to sign, various books on design & fashion and a relaxed vibe.
