Rather strange mural on the side of a solicitors office. Though the address given is Hoxton Square, the art is actually round the corner on Mundy Street. This page( )(which is generally a good place to start if you want to read about the artist) says that the iconography has been ‘hijacked’ from ‘adolescent’ comic books. Hmmm he was actually inspired by the very adult comic art of the 90’s. For me it instantly brought to mind some of the more bizarre art found in the comic 200AD. You look at it expecting to find a comic book character or two: flowing hair, bulging muscles, tight cloth and badges are all there. But these elements are distorted and twisted into abstract ropes. Close up the work is wonderfully bold, done in a mix of glowing primary colours and metallic paints. Fabulous and intriguing.
