Worst service ever! There are plenty of cafés in the area, especially on Golborne Road, all more amazing than the others but St Helens café est horrible. Food is alright, the coffee is not good and the service is aweful!
They just put you off your food!
Just don’t go there!

Food not bad, but poor service, the waitress didn’t clean the table for us, didn’t provide cutlery until asked, and initially brought the wrong drinks. Plus, it’s quite expensive even for the area (£10 for English breakfast).

How come mine is still the only review for this place — what’s going on?! St Helen’s has become a part of the North Ken establishment and it hasn’t really changed since my 2008 review. I have had plenty of their dishes now, both as takeaway and eating in — or on the pavement terrace out front.
I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve ordered here, but it’s just that little bit too expensive to become a true favourite — mind you, they have a captive audience around here, the nearest alternatives being Portobello or Westfield. At least it’s consistently good quality, and long may it continue.
