Gets two stars for the staff who are always delightful but I’d give it one for everything else. This is my local and I do pop in a lot. Mainly for take away as the place is seriously the saddest most run down, shabby crappy Starbucks I have ever seen. The outside space is tatty and always full of dirty tables. The downstairs seating area always(I’ve tried about ten times) smells of sewage drains and the rest of the place is just tired and ugly. This place is crying out for a referb and I wish Starbucks would get on and do it! Oh. And the wifi is terrible.

A useful Starbucks when you’re looking to charge up your mobile and charge up your caffeine. A few tables inside with power and free wi-fi, there are more downstairs. The usual Starbucks setup, though this shop is smaller than most. Tables outside to watch the pedestrian traffic. Free wi-fi is available if you are either BT Openzone or if you top-up a Starbucks card with £5. If you’re here, wander up a half a block to 180 Ebury St. It’s where Mozart wrote his first symphony in 1765. He was 9 years old.

While it’s a slight generalisation, if you’re in Starbucks you tend to know what they do and offer. This branch offers the full selection of muffins, cakes and a small freezer chilled section of juices and sandwichs/paninis. The staff in this branch are always polite, they have a few tables outside which are great for smokers, and there is a large downstairs section which can be very quiet and nice, including a little area behind the stairs that is very discreet and secluded. It can get slightly overrun with Chelsea mothers dropping off their children at Francis Holland, but it’s usually got a really nice local atmosphere and it’s the kind of place where they recognise their customers. They have a great bar area which directly looks out onto the square in front and is great for people watching. It has wireless access and there’s always people with laptops. A great place you don’t feel ushered out of.
