History

Established in 1992.

Maureen Morrison (née Stringer) founded Stringers of Edinburgh in 1992 and opened Stringers in London in 2007.

As a professional ‘cellist, teacher and parent of young string players, she wanted to create a centre of excellence for string players of all levels from beginner to professional in a pleasant, relaxed environment.

Our fine strings department comprises instruments (violins, violas, cellos and double basses), bows and accessories for advanced students and professionals. All of the instruments are set up by a team of expert restorers and are played by our staff before going on sale. Our spacious studios are available by appointment and instruments and bows may be taken out on approval.

At Stringers, we recognise that buying a musical instrument can be a daunting experience. Most of our staff are former and current string teachers or professional players and can therefore provide assistance and support to students, parents and less experienced adults.
