As most sartorial men know, it’s a bit trying to find places that cater to men’s clothing and accessories outside of your usual name brand stores. Stumper and Fielding answers with an outstanding, curated collection of suits, ties, scarves, bowlers, and more! During the summer sale months, this is a must stop. Helpful staff who offer great advice as well.
I picked up a stunning 3 piece tweed suit. While the jacket was a good fit, everything else was a bit of a mess. However, they let me know it could easily be tailored for a great fit and provided me the instructions to my tailor back in the United States. I brought these instructions when I returned and got all three pieces properly fit. The result: perfection.

After wandering around Notting Hill, I was so pleased to find Stumper & Fielding — a gem among many tourist shops selling variations of the same generic touristy things one would expect.
I was on the hunt for a gift for one of my guy friends back home and this was the perfect spot. Though I wasn’t sure I could pick something out for him to wear clothing wise as he obviously couldn’t return/​exchange it if it didn’t fit, they had plenty of other great stuff for men that I knew he’d like.
It didn’t seem too ridiculously priced as I feared it might be and the shopkeeper dudes were very nice and helpful on helping me find something.
If I were a local, this would easily be my go-​to spot for guy gifts. High quality, reasonably priced and as far as I could see, locally owned/​small business which is just my cup of tea.

My wife and I stumbled upon Stumper & Fielding whilst wandering through the market. As it happens, London mens fashion is very much up my alley. It’s very hard to find in Germany where I live. I felt at home instantly in the shop and the guys working there were quite friendly in spite of the fact it was semi-​choas due to the number of shoppers.
I’ve listed it as pricey but it’s quite reasonable comparing it to the quality. My general opinion is that with things like this, quality comes at a price.
The ONLY think I could wish for is a website so I could order things from my home. Guess I’ll just have to go back and visit again instead.

This is a difficult review to write as I am concerned about the future of Portobello Road Market with more and more antique shops and arcades being forced ou of the market and replaced by fashion chains.
As far as I can tell Stumper & Fielding is not a chain, and the store blends in well with is surroundings. It is positioned at the pretty end of Portobello Road and presents its wares in an old-​fashioned shop.
