‘The Best Turkish Kebab’ in Stoke Newington has a reputation as THE place to visit, in area full of Turkish Restaurants, if you hanker after a good minced lamb mix Doner. The other highly rated outlets in the area concentrate on ocakbasi grills and Yaprak Doners. The service in this popular place is complicated as there are around 7 people all behind the counter working on different parts of the same order. I suppose it works better when they are really busy. The shop boasts: «At Best Turkish Kebab we make the doners from shoulder meat with careful spicing and no additives.» The meat is obviously a quality mix. Lovely fresh tasting lamb but the spicing is a little subtle compared to some I have tried. Two places that immediately spring to mind as superior in my opinion are ‘Dionysus’ & ‘Andys’, but as they are both closed down this place is easily in the top ten of Lamb Doners you can get in London. The value was memorable as a £3.80 got me a small pita with more meat than anywhere I regularly visit put in their large sizes. The salad was good and the fresh Chilli Sauce spooned from a silver bowl was also tasty. They do not serve a Garlic Sauce which is a shame as it would go well with the style of Doner. This Kebab House is deserving of its reputation and I would certainly go again if I was in the area. RECOMMENDED!

I moved into the area 3 years ago and I am a big fan(a guilty pleasure for sure) but over past 6 months or so the service has gotten really bad which has spoilt it for me Last time i went i put my order in as they were finishing serving last person in there and they still managed to serve the guy who came in after me first, so bad worth putting a comment online! I‘ve now stopped going, shame, its very near and i miss the kebabs:-)

It’s not only the name of this place, it is also something proved as a famous newspaper decides to give them the first rank for the best burger-chips kebab in London. Indeed, the staff is impeccable as they are at least eight people at night behind the counter to serve you. It is very clean and they prepare everything in a small bag with napkins, food wrapped up in aluminium and paper to keep it warm. I appreciate the simple burger which is small but so cute. They give large portions of chips. They work quickly and even if there are always people in you don’t have to wait more than 10minutes to order and have your bag ready. Prices are nice with the hamburger at £1.20
