I love the location of this café as it is underground and almost hidden from the outside. The food was fresh and pretty yummy but a little bit expensive as I spent over 60 pounds on 2 plates and a drink.

A wonderful weekday lunch(only) destination that’s a delightfully anachronistic way to escape the rushing hordes of other Londoners. The food is simple, inexpensive, delicious and filling. The staff are all French(and tend to try taking your order in French). Unlike most European restaurants in London — when you’re there it actually feels like you’ve stepped into some quiet corner of France. The café itself is defiantly unassuming. You would not find it without recommendation. You need to walk into St Etheldreda Church and force your way past a modestly labelled heavy swing door. The waitress might find you if you hang around long enough looking lost. Inside there are less than a dozen tiny tables sandwiched intimately between the crockery cupboard and the kitchen counter. One giant window floods the café with cloister garden soaked sunlight. Reward yourself with an hour, a good friend(or book) and glass of wine to properly enjoy the ambience. After lunch be sure to have a wander around the church proper.
