The Clerk and Well

Ok food, but not great.
Tumbs up for several Asian dishes. 14 choices of beer.
The Korean beef was well done, although my friend specifically ordered medium-​rare.

Ce pub est egalement un hotel 4* typiquement anglais. Ale délicieuse et acceuil parfait. Super + les serveurs sont français et sympathiques. La chambre est très grande et extrêmement bien tenue. Style so british 5* méritées

Good menu and a good atmosphere. The staff aren’t always as attentive as I’d like but I think it’s because they’re so busy!

One of the best pubs in the neighbourhood. Fantastically friendly (and beautiful) staff, lovely airy feel, highly highly recommended.

Lived in London for 2 ½ years and never got around to reviewing this wonderful little pub! Went here with some frequency to watch football, esp Euro Cup 2012 and Champions League matches.
In London, pubs that serve Thai are quite common and this one is definitely worth a visit! Never had bad service here, but they are laid back… just keep in mind it’s a pub and you might have to go to the bar once in a while.
They have a good ambiance, nice decorations, and comfortable furniture. Have taken people here because they serve good Thai food, have a nice ambiance, and have a good selection of drinks available. There’s plenty of TVs, pool table in the back (though that’s always taken), and decent and clean restrooms.

I don’t get it.
I mean, I get the Clerk & Well. Obviously. But I’ll come back to that.
I don’t get how it’s possible. After three months in this amazing city and nearly weekly check ins at the Clerk & Well, how I HAVEN’T YET REVIEWED IT. I see why my Elite Status is on the line folks, and I hereby promise to pull it together.
But back to the «coming back to it» part. The Clerk & Well is my local, and I’m proud to have it. I found the C&W on my Unilocal app early in the year when cruising for Friday afternoon pubs, and several things made it the winner:
1. a great menu of Thai food, though lately I’ve been partial to the Asian sliders
2. a standard bar array, with a friendly staff and a willingness to keep serving until you’re throwing up, crying, or carried home by your friends (yes, I’ve done all three, and I keep going back)
3. lots of tables for big parties, which mean that whenever me and my crew show up, we’re able to settle in for the long haul
Basically, this is my Place to Be on a Friday. We often use the C&W as a launch pad for the rest of the evening, but sometimes we stay all night and never mind a moment of it.

So I met up some friends here and I walked through the door starving. I picked up the menu and was shocked to see Thai food on the menu. Really?! Isn’t this a pub? I was expecting Fish & Chips & other fried, unhealthy goodies.
So weird but awesome at the same time. I tried a few bites of my friend’s pad thai and although it wasn’t authentic, it was still pretty good. And I really mean that… even though I’m sure anything I ate at that point would’ve been good. I love noodles so I went with the Wok-​Fried Udon with Beef. Not exactly Thai… perhaps some Asian Fusion going on with the menu but it came out looking amazing & tasted just as great.
The Clerk & Well was busy like no other and I can see why people love it so much. Great food & beer = good time. It’s also a hop, skip and jump away from my school. Looks like I found another usual spot to hit up after class.

The Clerk and Well is a real gem, and does something I have never experienced in a pub before, it serves Thai food that is actually pretty good!
I am hoping to make this regular for me and my new work pals as it has a pool table and plenty of seats in here.
